OB73, I can only imagine how your heart breaks when hearing your children ask you

when you will get better. Believe me when I say, you will get better one day. It may be

sooner than later. You and only you have the "key" to your success. I know how difficult

that is to believe right now. Whether it be Fate or God you believe will help you, you must

believe in yourself.

Your situation is a very difficult emotional issue and until you work around that or through

that, things will stay the same.

Right now you are stuck in this cycle of fear, you're lost. As my psychiatrist once told me,

"You are like a person lost in the ocean, looking for a rescue, unable to see the shore"

It was exactly how I felt at the time. I'm sure you can relate to those words as well.

But how do we get rescued?? How do we get to shore once again?

With therapy,, I realized that I allowed myself to drift into this space of the unknown because

i gave up on myself. I closed my ears to anyone trying to help me, direct me to a new path.

There's a commercial on tv which is about this man being lost at sea. A rescue boat comes

and hands him a new pair of glasses so he can see better. When asked if he needed anything

else, there he sat in his boat, lost and unable to get ashore and yet he said "no".

Something to that tv ad that struck a chord with me. Sometimes even when help is offered

we are too afraid in trying to make a change to take that new step forward. Sorry my response is getting too long. I hope some of my words allow you to think about the reasons

we find ourselves stuck day in and day out. We will help you find your way again. :)xx

I understand. I have family myself and I wish to get well for them. Some days are harder than others but somehow I make it through. Im sorry you are going through a rough time. Keep posting, it helps to feel you are not alone in your journey.

My heart goes out to you my friend. I've seen that look you talk about. I too have been on the receiving end of those eyes. I can't sit here and tell you the typical things people usually say, like..... "Don't worry, it gets better" "you have to do it for the kids" and so on. I can't be a hypocrite and tell you these things because I've been in your shoes. I have felt that great disappointment you feel at this moment. I have felt the guilt that you feel. Unless you walk in someone's shoes there is no way you can feel his or her pain. I used to always look at my son when he was sleeping in order to gain a little perspective and hopefully find some type of inspiration. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. One thing is for sure, I'm very happy you are with your children. I'm here for you brother, anytime you need an ear or shoulder.

Not sure how old your children are but I know how heartbreaking questions like this can be. As the oldest child of a misdiagnosed bipolar mother and a Mom myself I will offer a bit of wisdom from my own experience. When your children are older you will be suprised at how much they forget. Many of the things I consider to be my greatest failures as a parent are things my children don't even remember. As a daughter I realized my mother did the best she could and loved me even when she was unable to express it. I was 22 when she died in 1986 and miss her but found peace with my memories long ago. Everything will turn out the way it is meant to. Just love your children with all your heart and do what you can to reassure them that Super Dad is still there. Perhaps you could tell them everyone has bad days even superheroes.
