Thoughts ruminating over and over

I’ve been having this issue for the past few years now where I have trouble letting things go. And the only way to “let things go” is by writing an email to that person or a text message just to feel like I got it off my chest. Or else the thoughts ruminate over and over and over and for the life of me I can’t stop them , it’s so depressing 😔. I am diagnosed with OCD and anxiety and been on several meds . Nothing seems to work in this life for me. What’s my next step I don’t know. Any ideas guys ? Thanks 🙏

Oh boy when something gets stuck my craw, I can't let it go. Write your letter get all of it out then don't send it. Save it, you might want to add revisions. Once you feel really good about save it. Let it simmer for a few days. Think about what is the purpose of the letter and will it resolve the conflict. It gives you a chance to decide if you need to send it.

I have the same issue so really my response is just to express my solidarity. I empathize with your feelings and thank you for sharing. If you ever find a great coping mechanism please feel free to share.

i write 'no seems letters" ill write everything i feel. Then when I'm ready i get rid of it. Or if i save it, I've looked at some from the past and say "wow. I don't feel that anymore. It bothered me that bad"? Just proves to myself it takes time to heal...for me at least. I have a very hard time letting things go. Ialso have ocd and anxiety. Do i dwell. But while I'm in that moment, whichcan last a while, i amtrying to learn to do things that distract me, tho it can be hard. Like arts and crafts, music. I'll even go outside to feel the grass or leaves and take in nature to ground myself.

A pretty new tool for me is to repeat to myself "reduce importance" about a sticky thought. If saying it does not work to change topics in my mind, I write "reduce inportance" out 30 times. That has helped ! Also, look up utubes of Sunny Sharma, Eckhart Tolle, and Dr Joe Dispenza. Another is A Peaceful Mind in 5 Minutes by Mooji. All have helped me. Oh, and singing can help! Try singing the alphabet song. Probably anything you sing could help. :)))

May you find your own tools to help with your monkey mind !

There is a free app by Nick Ortner "Tapping Solution" that is very helpful on lots of topics. It will show you how/where to do the tapping in the app itself . If you like it, you can upgrade to the paid version for many more options. Onward and upward !

For sure ! It cannot hurt, and may help ! One I really like is longer than most at 16 minutes called "You Are Enough". There is also a shorter version. Not sure if either is on the free app since I upgraded right away after trying it. Timing is everything. I too had heard of it but only got into it this past July. Another is called " Help Me Stop Overthinking". My friend told me how overwhelmed she was. I suggested tapping. She tried "TurnYour Day Around:Release Overwhelm" and it really helped her ! I would love to hear your feedback if you try it !!!

I ruminate to the max and it is agony. Here is a post I did a while back where I summarize what my psychiatrist and I worked on regarding ruminating thoughts. You might find it interesting.

I have the same challenge! Appreciate all of the suggestions and leads. Journaling and counseling has helped me, but the thoughts can be exhausting.
