chest x ray

would a chest X-ray show signs of breast cancer? I had one recently, I had to stand bare against a panel for the X-ray to be taken and it came back all clear! This was for a different reason! But recently past few days I’ve had an on/off pain just outside my left armpit, now I’m not sure if this is the way I sleep, or tensing my muscles from anxiety or because I’ve been continuously feeling for lumps! I didn’t find any lumps. I also had a breast examination from my Gp at the end of last year she had a good feel and didn’t find anything abnormal! I suffer severe health anxiety so obviously the worst case comes to mind first! Any help would be so appreciated xxxx

I sympathize with you with the health anxiety mine always my heart I’m always worrying about it no matter how much reassurance. But I also have been getting pain under my left arm that comes and goes. It would never be a bad idea to get a mammogram. I could be wrong but a chest X-ray I’ve been told looks at your lungs, heart, bones. Health anxiety sucks.

I get health anxiety with my heart too! Constantly! Couldn’t tell you how many ECGs I’ve had 😭😭😭 I’ll maybe phone the doctors tomorrow and try and get a physical examination again!

Have you had any vaccinations lately? That happens to me every time I get a vaccine of any kind.

Doubtful, I had a schwannoma about the size of a walnut on my spinal cord, for thirty months in 1997, then this 'new' thing called a MRI diagnosed it, I had had numerous x-rays which nothing appeared. I have Schwannomatosis NF3, benign tumours on my legs, arms, trunk and hands, and do NOT show via x-ray, but have been located via MRI!

A chest xray won't show that. It will only show bone. You would need an ultrasound and a mammogram. As someone who went thru this last year be because I swore I had breast cancer I have 1 mammogram and 3 ultrasounds because I refused to believe something wasn't wrong.

Here is what helped. A specialist and surgeon told me cancer isn't usually painful in the breast. If it is there is always a lump there. That's what causes the pain the lump inside is pushing the tissue out of the way to grow so u would most definately have a lump.

I think your okay, seriously I know it sucks to hear but it's just your anxiety. It sucks tremendously because all we keep thinking is " i have to find this because no one else will" or " No one believes me and I'm going to die unless I find it first"

You are okay, promise. I had a pain in my breast too and it was consistent for 2 months. On and off every few minutes. I swore it was cancer.

Hi Sweetheart. First, let me say, breast cancer at your age is very very rare. Secondly, I have just been through the whole scenario, exactly the same as you. I'm 62 and more likely to be at risk. So, my doc referred me for a Mammogram and ultrasound. This was done very quickly. I saw a lovely consultant, who told me that a) my mammogram was all good and b) Breast pain is NOT a symptom of breast cancer. They didn't even do the ultrasound. Breast pain is so common (especially around the time of your period) you wouldn't believe it! So, stop prodding your poor boobies around and focus your thoughts away from your body. Be kind to your self. Please, really, stop worrying. Sending hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Everything you’ve said is correct and reassuring - but breast cancer can cause pain. Inflammatory breast cancer

My mother had breast cancer 16 years ago and survived it. Over the last few years, I also have found lumps which were removed by surgery, but were not cancer. Our body sometimes produces them, I think.

Most importantly, don’t forget that even if, in the worst case scenario, it is cancer , it is very, very treatable in our day. Many, many women have it, and survive. Modern medicine has moved on in leaps and bounds from the days when having cancer was untreatable.

A regular xray wil not show breast cancer. As others said you need a mammogram for initial diagnostic followed by biopsy and/or lumpectomy to confirm if there is a lump present. And breast cancer is generally not painful. Two of my close friends have been through breast cancer and are now cancer free. They had each found lumps through self-exam.When we're anxious we imagine all sorts of things that could be wrong with us, but for the most part it's just our anxiety.

Mammograms and monthly self breast exams are for are for identifying breast cancer. A yearly one is good but you should really be doing self examinations.
