Depression worsening on venlafaxine

Help. I have been taking 150mgs of Venlafaxine for a year and only had minor success with it. Because i am so sensitive my psychiatrist said to go up a little bit.. I was to split a 37.5mg capsule and take 1 of the tablets out of the capsule and take it daily along with my 150mg capsule. I did this and felt a bit better but now on day 6 and i am very depressed & feel hopeless. Should i stop. Or should i continue on, my pyschiatrist is not available for a week to speak to. Has anyone done this and got through it.

R-Lion, I’ve taken Venlafaxine for a long, long time. High dose, low dose, around the corner dose & every dose between. Never, ever have I had a bad reaction. Venlafaxine is extremely safe for me. I don’t think you have to split that small 371/2 capsule. Remember, I’m no Dr., far from it(I live outta town) but I think you’ll be fine on a stronger dose. Better days ahead

I'm surprised your psych didn't provide you with someone to call while they are away? You could try leaving a vm asking for direction with your meds. I hope you feel better soon. Depression sucks.
