Got some prescription from my Psychiatrist

Hello everyone.I went to see my psychiatrist today and he prescribed me Sertraline,Zoxadon and Zopax for the next 3 months.He gave me a follow up after 3 months again,just to check up on me and see if iam improving.

Thank you.I wanted him to refer me to a therapist,he told me that it's okay for now.I told him the way i feel and he gave me some good advice that i will be fine.

The best advice I can give to you,having been seen by psychiatrists since I was 8 and I'm now 37, get away from that doctor as fast as you can! No self respecting Dr. Who took the Oath to help patients without doing any known harm to them or putting them at any risk would NEVER,EVER just start you on 3 different medications at once,give you 3 months worth of all of them,and then just plan to see you perfectly fine 3 months from now. That's very concerning. I'm not telling you what to do but you might want to think long and hard about how much that particular doctor has not only your best interest but your safety at heart.

I absolutely agree with you. With that many new medications I would think the doctor should be checking in a week at the latest.

I agree with MizzyM420. It is hard to discern what is working or needs tweaking with 3 medications at once. It can be confusing which medication is causing a negative side effect

That being said, it might be good to raise this with your Psychiatrist.

3 meds at once and tells you you will be fine, come back in 3 months?! You need to be monitored for side effects and to see how they're working! Plus blowing you off when asking about seeing a therapist ? You need to find another doctor and find a therapist to help you through everything. The doctor is supposed to be there for meds, a therapist will help you through the emotions you are dealing with. Please find another doctor and find yourself a therapist. I totally agree with MizzyM420.

If you are using health insurance, you might be able to see a therapist without a psychiatrist or doctor's referral. And you could probably find a low-cost therapist or community group that might be helpful. And I agree on the 3 meds at once. NOT a good idea. At least see another psychiatrist. And if they are mad at you for seeing some one new, who cares. It's your life, mind and well-being. Not theirs.

No no no, do not take 3 meds..then to tell you come back in 3 months, that is not a professional Dr. Don't take any unless you are monitored, I can see 1 med but not 3. This Dr. Sounds like a pill pusher..get away from him!
