Hi HU, I have been posting more recently than I ever have before and I'm really thankful I am. At the beginning I didn't feel comfortable because I felt as if I didn't get any response I looked dumb so thank you for commenting on my posts if you do or have in the past. I am writing this because I feel as if my GAD has gotten a bit better overtime but I obviously still struggle and it is still hard during those panic attacks. My doctor gave me Hydroxyzine on an as needed basis when I first started taking Zoloft over a year ago. However, over time she has upped my daily dose of Zoloft to 75 mg (which has defintely made a difference) and also has increased my hydroxyzine dosage from 25mg to 50mg. Does anyone else on here take Hydroxyzine for anxiety? I have noticed that seems to be the only thing that helps me recently but I take like 200-300 mg. I haven't heard much personal reviews from this medication so I was just wondering if anyone noticed that this has helped them more as well???
Thank you in advance sweet friends <3

Hello Autumn, I was prescribed Hydroxyzine for itching but it is also prescribed for anxiety. It's an antihistamine and is usually very safe to take. I found it makes me very tired so I take it at night. I no longer have issues with anxiety so I don't know if it helps it or not. When I had panic/anxiety the only med that I tried that made a direct impact on it was Klonopin a benzo that prescribers don't like prescribing for longterm use so I tapered off of it.
Like a lot of people, I found that meds alone did not resolve my anxiety issue. It took learning that I had been taught totally wrong about it and the best way was to learn what it really is and how to allow the anxious thoughts and feelings to flow through me and no longer fear them. I found the DARE Anxiety book, youtube videos and their phone app to be very helpful in my recovery. I also found the book At Last A Life and Beyond by Paul David to be very helpful and encouraging.
I was just prescribed this on an as needed basis as well. I haven’t tried it yet, as I just got it…but I hope it helps me like it has you. Hope you are doing well. ❤️
a heads up first time you take it it may knock you out it also is like Benadryl so it also helps with allergies use to make me breath better and help my anxiety but would knock me out.
it was recommended to me to help me sleep when my mind won’t shut off. My mom was also prescribed it with all she’s going through and it’s helped a lot for her to sleep at night
That’s what I need it for too. I just recently started having nocturnal panic attacks…although panic strikes during the day too. This is what they have started me with though. I am so glad to hear that it helps you and your Mom too. Makes it easier to want to try
I used to take it years ago. It helped but I can't remember my disage. I stopped taking it cause I discovered natural herbs which I now use, with better success.
