I am tired of this vegan, vegetarian rubbish that is continually being shoved down our throats! Vegan, Vegetarian, vegetarian butchers, fishless fish fingers, Quorn, Linda McCartney [products?], etc, etc. What about the ordinary person that likes, chicken, beef, lamb. fish, etc, etc, just an 'ordinary meal meat & two vegs'? All the additives that are 'put in' with these "vegetable meals' to make them even edible, surely not good in the long term for the persons subjected to "swallowing "them? Even "our favourite" sausage makers, making vegan alternative to their meat products? [personally I cannot stand their meat products, too much fat in them!] Vegetarian meat alternatives, no where as good as the real things, some taste like 'spam', gelatinous in texture! Yuck! The ordinary human has evolved to eat meat, it's body is meant to eat MEAT, FISH and POULTRY! If a human eats vegetarian products all the time, it is harming the system, thus man's attempt to adjust this by various so called chemical additives [is everyone 100% sure that these so called chemical additives will cause long term damage to their bodies?] I do eat vegetables with my meals plenty of yoghurt, nuts, milk, fresh fruit, but NONE of this burgers, sausages, or alternative VE##N crap!

I ALWAYS GRILL MY MEAT, FISH AND POULTRY TO REMOVE AS MUCH FAT AS POSSIBLE!

I feel it's a matter of personal choice if you want to go vegetarian or vegan!

I dont mind trying out vegetarian things and that is entirely my own free choice to do that but I think they go too far though the way they go on about it ad infinitum!

How are you and Dylan getting on?

Baby is well and enjoyed her fish for her Monday treat this week!

Dylan will be jealous when you tell him I am making a root veg mash for dinner tonight!

We're both fine thanks.. He's a lot more relaxed since the obnoxious bloke next door moved out and took his dogs with him😁Glad Baby is well- hope you are too.

Dyl is on the stairs- usual siesta at this time , then he'll wake up to cause havoc around 5!

I'm fine thanks and been busy this week doing online courses and job hunting and Friday morning I have a blood test at the surgery for 9am that I have had to have waited 6 weeks for.

At least when its at 9am its over and done with then for the rest of the day unlike when I had the booster jab in December one Saturday afternoon at 4.20pm and had to wait around all day for it!

I agree. I always want to ask them what they do when a wasp gets in their house.

The way it is literally being 'stuffed down our throats', [the number of TV ads?] the amount of pills etc, they have to take to make up in the body for what is naturally being supplied by the meat, fish and poultry etc, there must be something wrong there somewhere?🤭🤔 The human being needs vegetables, but to make "food" that is meant to replace natural meat, fish and poultry etc, that is going too far! That is against the law of nature itself!

Some of the meatless processed products taste like sawdust!

Quorn I don't mind and tofu but some of the processed meatless products are absolutely disgusting!

You need to change your entertainment source. I don't see those adverts.

These are the UK adverts I am referring too! Quorn, Richardsons "The Nations favourite!"[?] , Vegetarian Butcher, Vegetarian fishless fish fingers, etc, etc, shall I go on?🙄

When I shop more than half…closer to 3/4 of my time is in produce. They sell plenty of vegetarian processed food. I’m just not in the market for much processed food at all. I guess that is why I am not bothered. Maybe you should try that…especially if you are worried about additives. I shop Whole Foods or a competitor.

Some 40 years ago I used to get Linda McCartney things a couple of times a week and TVP to add to mince to spread the cost a bit, when TVP was cheaper.

No health food shop in my town now though and I don't drive any more, so....

Most of my food is now veg and fruit, although I'm not really into the exotics.

I like and eat fish, meat, eggs and cheese.

Cheers, Midori

Back in September we decided to do a cottage pie with vegetarian mince and we sat down to dinner and hubby spat it out and I asked him if everything was ok and he said no it wasnt the vegetarian cottage pie was disgusting and the mince he said tasted like eating sawdust!

Many years ago we had gone on a weekend away to Stockport and Sunday lunch had been included and I had sat down to eat it and was eating the veg and it was so disgusting that I had spat it out as it tasted like water!

Another client had asked me what was wrong and I had said it was the veg as it was absolutely disgusting and tasted like water and they had said how nothing at the hotel was very nice!

Usually I enjoy my veg but that was disgusting the way they prepared it there!

Vegetarian meals are not cooked like meat based meals. That is what a lot of people, even chefs get wrong. A vegetarian meal takes more spices. There are a lot of vegetarians in India. Look at how spicy and flavorful that food is even when it contains poultry. That is why when someone suggests eating at a steak house I groan. Sure they have a mostly veggie option but it is usually flavorless. Even the fish and poultry tends to be flavorless or fried.

"The ordinary human has evolved to eat meat, it's body is meant to eat MEAT, FISH and POULTRY!" No, humans are omnivores not carnivores. We are evolved to survive on what is available. Like rats.

"If a human eats vegetarian products all the time, it is harming the system, thus man's attempt to adjust this by various so called chemical additives [is everyone 100% sure that these so called chemical additives will cause long term damage to their bodies?]"

There are chemical additives in meat. A proper diet is mostly plants not mostly processed food which is what you are talking about. That is true for keto and low carb diets as well as vegetarian diets.

It is true that red meat in high quantities promotes heart disease and climate change (someone has to raise it). If everyone who eats red meat reduced it to once or twice a week, not filling the entire plate there would be no need for those horrible farms. That is why there are "replacement options". I don't eat those. I just have a once in a blue moon hamburger, eat lots of plants and poultry or fish.

Dogs are omnivores as well same as we are and eat potatoes and veg same as we do!

Cats are carnivores!

I am definitely a cat person, had a couple of them over the years, they like me I like them, always have, dogs DO NOT like me, sometimes they growl at me for no reason, I just stare at them and they always yelp and run away! Definitely prefer cat carnivores😺😸👍

Cats I find are easier to manage than dogs as pets!

I guess I am then an omnivore, in that I eat my "meat and two veg" but I cannot eat processed meat, sausages, burgers because I have diabetes 2. I had a small stroke in 2008, but that was because, I was setting pub quizes, drinking, 17 1/2 stone, carry outs, I am a qualified cook, living on my own, no restrictions, was generally enjoying myself! I was finally diagnosed in 2020 diabetes 2, I lost 2 stone [in isolation], formed my own diet, meat, poultry and fish included, which due to lack of general exercise I began to enjoy my eating and have gained a stone, but my blood pressure, cholesterol is good, just ask my GP [actually never helped my father died of a heart attack, ignored his diabetes diet, I did not!]. I reckon I just need more general exercise, hopefully coming out the other side of this pandemic, and full retirement in a few months, I hopefully will be able to attain? Not a vegan in sight!

That sounds close to a keto diet. It have more veggies but you can eat meat and other fats. Most people lose weight on it so it could be you are eating something like bread. It sounds like a diet you might be able to live with.

Hi Adlon,

I must admit Veganism seems to be 'flavour of the month', and suppliers are climbing on the bandwagon.

But the percentage of Vegans is very small still.

I too find them annoying with their 'Holier than Thou' attitude, but they appear to be here to stay, so I will tolerate them.

I will take exception with their attitude that 'Everyone should be Vegan', not everyone can be, certain conditions can't take a Vegan lifestyle.

I have canine teeth, so I will still eat meat, although I don't object to a veggie meal or two on occasions.

It is a matter of choice, however, and if someone wants to be Vegan, good for them, just don't expect me to join them, because I am an Omnivore.

Cheers, Midori
