It's Like Life Was So Much Easier & Enjoyable Just A Mere 20 Years Ago.
Sure ! You Had The Same Problems But They Where Much Easier To Handle & Maintain.
"Pause & Calmly Think About That"
Makes Me Wonder If The Vast Increase Of Technology So Quickly Was Really Worth It.

Social Media has a lot to do with it! Us teenagers constantly compare ourselves to others on social media and we wish we had a perfect life like them but yes I know no ones life is perfect but they make it seems that it is.
Very true. It made me much happier once I cut back, and started viewing social media as a "Scrapbook" or "family photo album." Nobody puts their bad times in a photo album. If you looked at it on their coffee table you would only expect to see family vacations and birthdays. But that doesn't mean their life is perfect.
Times change. There was no PTSD after WWII, or was there? ADHD? Not when I was in school.
I have suffered from anxiety since I was about 7, it was not diagnosed for 40 years. Symptoms of anxiety were called “lazy” or “stupid”, “bratty” or “troubled” when I was in school.
Mental health issues have moved into the forefront. In the past it was more or less unacceptable to have these problems.
I do think that society has changed and not for the better. In the past the hierarchy for support was; family, church, neighbors, community, then government. That support was only to supplement personal responsibility. Now the first 4 or 5 levels of support are skipped. I don’t know if this contributes to more anxiety, but I think that it probably does. Yep, times change.
I think it's more that the terminology changes. There's always been PTSD. During the First World War, for instance, the psychological damage caused by combat that we would now call PTSD was called "shell shock."
About 28 Years or/ So Ago I Was In An Explosion At Work, Burned Badly, & Almost Died. I Never Had An Anxiety Disorder Before That. Ended Up With Over 2 Years Of Surgeries & Rehabs & Tried To Get Back To Work. However I Now Had Some Physical Permanent Work Restrictions.... Then ? One Day Outa No Where ? BAM !* I Was In A Hospital Having A Heart Cath Done Trying To Find Out Why My Heart Rate SUDDENLY Jumped To 265 BPM Just Like That !* The Doc Said " Your Heart's OK ". I Was Like, "Then Why Am I Here ?" My SUBCONSCIOUS Gave Me A Adrenaline DUMP Basically In A Self Defense Mode Saying "DUCK" !* It's Not Safe Here !* I Thought I Had Came A Long Way & Was Doing Fine In My Conscious Mind. But NO !... You Got It ! SEVERE "PTSD". Everything Changed From That Day Til Now.
It Never Goes Away... Meds & Education Helps You Live With It.. & I Was Blessed With One Of The Best Burn Surgeons In The World At That Time. I Have Scars Here & There But Never Looked Disfigured In Any Real Way... In Fact ? Most People Think I'm Younger Than I Really Am.
Back in the day children use to climb trees, do stupid things with friends, basically put them selves at risk of harm. There parents allowed this with a calm attitude or just pretend to ignore it unless their child was at risk of serious harm.
These days if a child wanted to climb the tree, IF their parents were to allow it they would first make them understand all the possible dangers involved (splinters, falling, getting stuck etc) and then when the child begins to climb the tree, their parent are watching every move, making boundaries on where they can go etc.
The parents do this to many other situations throughout a child’s life. Many of these situations the child wouldn’t be able to participate in.
This begins to put irrational fear in the child’s upbringing because they see a lot of normal/fun activities as a danger.
This is what I think some people’s anxiety are formed from.
Especially school exams, the teachers make it a very big deal, something that will determine there life. It makes the students fearful. A lot of anxieties are about failing, because of the mindset the elder generations put in them.
You got that right .. anxiety disorders & mental heath issues have increased. I just saw on the news that the pharmaceutical company’s are actually low on meds for mental health disorders.. they said there is actually 18 different medications they are short of and have to give people something different.
It is a hectic world out there and definitely hard to cope with ones issues/ problems.
Trigger point the increase in anxiety and depression I believe are brought on by modern living there is stress everywhere at work and home no one is Immune to it rich or poor ! If you looked around you you will not see but 1 in 4 suffer from some kind of mental illness and the media don't help matters as it's only the darker side of mental illness they publish! I wish you and your family a great 2019 and I hope things improve for you David 🙏
IT could well be Triggerpoint, but I think anxiety is less of a stigma now and ppl are more willing to talk about it
Oh things are much worse.
The world is a disaster.
We have made our bed and now we have to lie in it.
Its all Biblical. Technology, 5G networks going up..just wait..this is only the begining i am afraid. Hense where my anxiety stems from..seeing the things coming to pass. Its hard to not be afraid. There are so many things to be afraid of.
Everyone says fear and anxiety is irrational..I beg to differ.
Reality is enough to cause a constant state of anxiousness.
No wonder our fight or flight response is on high alert. We are under constant threat from Everything! Food, the air we breath. And all the medicines we take to get better..leads to more anxieties..due to side effects and so on..it is a viscious circle. I do know this..Perfect Love cast out all fear. I live in prayer. And try to not be to dismayed by the signs.
This is all so true friend. Without spiritual guidance and direction we are lost and afraid. I try to stay alert and put my trust in my God to protect me and guide me. Without him everything will crumble and fall. Fear not for he is with us through this all. God loves us all.
You are right! I have noticed that there is a vast increase in anxiety, depression, mental disorders and more. I honestly think it's a combination of all the things you mentioned! People may have had these issues in the past, however with more technology we are now seeing more people talk about it and announce it publicly whereas before, it was hidden shameful and kept secretly. People are talking more and communicate more now because of technology. It's a sad world but we have to somehow get through this life and help one another in the process. It's not going to be easy or fun all the time. Life is short. We must make the best of it while we are here. God help us all.
