How can I not panic for four weeks?

This is a period/menstrual cycle related post.

Three weeks ago, I started spotting brown blood. It happened for a few days and has happened frequently before my period starts. It was annoying but I felt okay.

On 12th November (17 days ago), my period started. Again, I felt okay. The next day was lighter than expected, and so was the next. Within days, I was flooding a pad and my underwear within two hours. At one point, I had to wear two pads and two underwear just to prevent leaks. Some blood still ended up on my clothes.

Last week, the GP prescribed tranexamic tablets. That stopped my period when I took it five years ago. That time, my period went on for two weeks, was light and the tablets stopped it...This time, the tablets haven't worked. I upped the dose and it didn't work. Now the tablets have finished, my blood is getting heavy again. I've been referred for an ultrasound...

I'm scared. My health anxiety is through the roof. My mind is going through so much. Is this cancer? Will I be infertile or die? Is this early menopause (I'm 32 and haven't had children but want them)? Is it PCOS or endometriosis? My period two months ago went on for two weeks but was a normal/light flow. I thought it was because I'd been sick weeks before it started. This time, I've been near someone else who was sick. If it was the virus, did it affect me? I had no symptoms.

I don't want to die. I don't want to be infertile. I don't know what to do with myself.

How can I stay calm until my ultrasound day?

Hello! It's definitely not the virus! It can be a lot of things besides cancer. It might just end up being something benign like a fibroid. The important thing is to find the cause so that you can get the appropriate treatment. However, if you are still bleeding and have symptoms, maybe you should get a second opinion? Maybe do your ultrasound earlier? That way you'd get your answer and solution a lot faster and you wouldn't have to wait for 4 weeks.

If I had the money, I'd definitely get an ultrasound sooner. I'd get it today if I could. Unfortunately I'm too broke right now to go private.🙁 The NHS will have to do.

Thanks for your support!

Hello SunriseSunset

Having health anxiety is horrible plus having to wait for medical exams adds to ones worries. I been going through health issues myself and waiting for exams. I hope an appointment opens up sooner. Maybe call them every other day to see if someone canceled or if a time slot becomes available. Hope everything gets better.

Thank you. I didn't know it was possible to get a quicker appointment.

Good luck to you! I hope it works out for us.

I was not aware of it either but its a good possibility to get something sooner. Any days earlier you can get yourself checked helps our anxiety. I was diagnose with a gallbladder with stones, it was hard since it was a COVID year and there were other more pressing priorities and getting diagnostics tests were hard to come by.
