Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a nice week. I've been getting tension headaches/neck pains for a while now, they happen maybe a few times every few weeks up to once or twice a week. I was wondering if anyone else has tension headaches/a tight neck every once in a while? I tried a massage gun and neck massager, ibuprofen, and yoga, but the tightness is still lingering from yesterday. I'm not asking for medical advice, but I'm open to any tips about how to help relieve the tension because it can be really tiring to deal with. I'm a weightlifter so I'd really like to get this tightness gone.

Tension in Head/Neck?
I know how you feel! I constantly have periods of tension on the right side of me neck due to stress and constantly being off balance due to foot problems. I’ve found progressive relaxation to be helpful. There are lots of them on the web. I just did a good one with Richard Scott on insight timer but there are lots of others to choose from. I like to do mine with earphones to shut out outside noise. The voice of the teacher is very important so check out a few. I like a lower pitched voice as it helps me relax more. Hope you feel better.
Thank you so much, my therapist actually recommended this to me, I'm definitely going to give it a try. Be well!
Hi mantis, I totally agree with Gillyflower's advice . I suffered myself for years withtension headaches as well as intermittent migraines throughout the month.
Stretching exercises as well as physical therapy released the spasms that were based
in my upper shoulders, neck and base of my skull. I did water exercise as well.
Using my meditation tapes with headphones on works to calm the mind down as Gillyflower
stated, that it blocks out the outside noise. There are many video relaxation/meditation on
YouTube. I also prefer the lower pitched voice.
As for working out, I use to do weights and strenous exercising at the Fitness Center.
Again stretching and breathing before getting started as well as slowing down after.
(but you probably know that)
I wish you well. It does work xx
