Isn't it both wonderful and so sad. It always catches me near the start when it says "Peter Pan, that's what they call me, I promise that you'll never be lonely" and I just feel emotional right away. Very beautiful though.

"You Say" by Lauren Daigle. Very spiritual. Also "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten.
Both are beautiful songs. You Say is one that just takes me back to a certain period of my life, simpler times you might say. Thanks for the reply!

When I met my husband 17 years ago Katy Mellua had a song we loved. It still makes me think of when we met, it was on the first C.D. he bought me. I think it was called "feeling Kind of Crazy. That is how we felt when we first met, still feel the same 17 years later.
Just gave this a listen. Thanks for sharing it. My wife and I met in the fall of 1996 and we had a song we both absolutely loved in the earliest days of our relationship. Send Me On My Way by Rusted Root. Neither one of us ever outright said it, but I think it captured that euphoric feeling of meeting and getting to know your soul mate. If I could bottle that feeling and sell it I'd be richer than Jeff Bezos. Or maybe I'm just an old guy wistfully reminiscing lol.

Good song! They sometimes catch some flak for making "arena rock". But so what? A banger is a banger and some of their songs are definitely bangers! I particularly like Radioactive.

Well,there's couple I have 🤭 my all time favourite singer is Whitney Houston ,singing the Star spangled banner, at the super bowl, boy, that woman had some lungs!!! ❤ and my second one,is Chicago ,hard to say I'm sorry, hope you didn't mind slipping 2 in😉
The more, the merrier, I say. Chicago is one of my wife's favorites. We saw them in concert about 10 years ago with Earth, Wind and Fire. I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be one of the best shows I've ever seen! And yes, Whitney was one of a kind. Incredible voice.

Aerosmith..... I don't want to miss a thing. We had a big screen where I working in Oxford street and Mtv played all day. I heard this song and had just got engaged. The words touched my heart. Haven't heard this song for years.
Certain songs always get tied up in our memories with periods or events in our lives. Sounds like a nice memory. Always liked Aerosmith, though because I'm an old guy I like their older stuff a little better. I've heard Dream On a million times but can't help singing along every damn time!
I'll have to listen to his other songs as I'm only familiar with this one. The other two were released even before I was born. Your right certain songs do take us back to past events in our life 😊
Though it often depends on the moment, there are also those songs that work their emotional magic on me every time I hear them, like "Waterloo Sunset" by The Kinks.
For deeply personal reasons I won't discuss here, there are three songs written by the same songwriter/poet, John K. Samson, that make me cry or sob every single time I hear them -- the Virtute the Cat trilogy (I'm already welling up at the thought). The first two were written with his band, The Weakerthans, and the last (which wrecks me every time), is a solo recording:

Ok, so this is going to be a two part reply, lol. I have to comment on a few that you listed. But I want to listen to the ones I'm not familiar with, which might take a while. Say Something and Time After Time are two of my faves. Look for Chris Cornell's cover of Nothing Compares to You. I love both versions, but Chris' is infused with so much bluesy soul. It hits harder after his passing. Finally; let's take a moment to talk about I'll Follow You Into The Dark. This song. This song tears me apart every time I hear it. It's so simple and stripped down and pure and beautiful and... I don't even have words to do it justice. Death Cab is probably in my top 5 all-time list, and this song is one of their best. Anyway... I'm off to start listening to some of your other choices. Got some homework lol.

I was a big NIN fan back in the day. I always liked Trent's "quieter" stuff. Somehow when he stripped the music down it lent so much more weight to his vocals and lyrics. Haven't heard this song in over 20 years and I forgot how good it was. Thank you for the link.

I really enjoyed this. To me it comes across as a thoughtful lament. I like the slow build where you have an inkling where it's going then gets sort of bittersweet at the end. In my mind it plays to the concept that we get wiser as we get older, but no less immune to life's hurts. Beautiful song, thanks for sharing this. If you get a chance, I highly recommend Sting's Shape of My Heart. Different style and era, but it lays out, (somewhat similarly I think), themes of persistence and futility. You might enjoy it. I listened to "Shape of My Heart". Making out the lyric was no trouble, but it was meaningless to me; I feel like a dolt. Your words don't connect at all to what I hear. Is it life experience? I don't know. I'll try again later and hope I catch on.
Could be life experience, sometimes things resonate with one person and not another. I also tend to read too much into stuff so it could be that. I have been known to ascribe meaning where there was none as well, (my wife can attest to that).
Um... well, must admit, also guilty of the above. A life shared with books. Downside: I can make myself crazy looking for meaning I ain't gonna find no how. For instance, South American writers. I've decided my analytic mind won't get me there, and I don't know any other path. Hell on wheels with a good mystery though. Drive my family crazy figuring out the dénouement long before the film is over.

This is a geeat song. I love the time signature changes and that driving bass line, they give the music a kind of plodding, lumbering feel. There's even a spot or two where it almost sounds like the bass and guitar are about to slip out of time for a second. Subtly contributes to the feel of the song. Tool definitely had one of the better rhythm sections of that era.

Heheh, you don't have to worry about too heavy for me lol. At various points I've been into some pretty heavy stuff. Tool, Primus, Faith No More, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Corrosion of Conformity, The Jesus Lizard and many more. Even went through a death-metal phase! (Sepultura was my favorite) Will give these a listen after work.
Okay, so I finally got a chance to listen to these properly. I liked all three, but the last one stood out for me. The music just kind of sets a mood, very atmospheric and kind of somber. I also liked the lyrics to the last one the best. Overall, very calming and a soothing in it's way. Thanks for the suggestions!
