Situational Depression

Well so much for a quick recovery. Apparently it was worse than I thought. They said when they got into my ankle that the spur was exceptionally large and they had to remove a sizable piece of my heel. Then, the tendons were pretty much destroyed and they had to “transfer” tendons from my toes to my heel/ankle to replace the Achilles. Now what all this means is I can’t walk on it for 4 more weeks, maybe 6!! I’m trying to just take it one day at a time but it looks pretty bleak right now. I’m just really spinning circles in my head. What do I do, how do I cope??!!

Have you got friends and family you could ask round, ring, or even ask if they’d take you out? Red Cross hire out wheelchairs for short term loans, so that’s an option to use; likewise, some shops have a few for customers to borrow. I know these ideas aren’t for everyone though. I can sympathise with you as I had to have drastic surgery on my foot almost 2 years ago, and wasn’t allowed to weight bear on it for about 5 months.

Thanks for all the ideas. I’ll see what I can make work for me. And WOW on your foot surgery, you’re tougher than me. Thanks again.

Ps by short term loans, I’m meaning 4 to 6 weeks long.

Lousy news, Dancer. I picked up adult coloring books when I was incapacitated and enjoyed it so Mapuche (much) lol. I still keep it up. (No, they’re not x rated). Amazon has a huge selection. But there’s a ton of other hobbies to make that time pass. 😁

So simple, of course something to pass the time and occupy my mind. I don’t have a machine so I sew by hand. Last year I made 30 pillows for kids in the battered women’s shelter. I could get an early start for Christmas. Thanks. It’s nice to share with someone.
