I started the patch yesterday and I'm already feeling crazy!! I feel like I'm off my meds. I'm emotional, agitated, aggravated, ect. Does anyone know how to do this?

Well I gave up using patches and also the little white inhalator as well. This was good for sudden mad cravings and saved my life! It does get easier over time and apparently after 12 weeks the nicotine has completely left the body.

There is a smoking site on here called Quit. They helped me enormously so why not join them? They not only help you stop but to stay stopped too. Good luck.

You are very welcome. I have been on HU a long time and am aware of many different communities. I am on several myself.

Try the little white inhalator. I found this invaluable.

That's how my friend quit - he used a nicotine vape. He was able to decrease the amount of nicotine slowly down to nothing and he was done.👏

I tried vaping, but it made me smoke more lol. I was literally smoking cigs and vaping at the same time! Haha.

I quit about 5yrs ago by using vape, the vaping really helped with craving and it still gives you the feeling of smoking, my doctor said it's definitely better than smoking xx

Lol yes when I first started vaping i was smoking as well, I had to gradually switch from one to the other, but my friend found the patches easier for her, it's just finding whatever suits you best, and perseverance of course lol. You get there if you keep trying 👍xx

Yep... I heard that quitting cigarettes was 7 times harder than quitting some of the hard drugs. I never knew you smoked...I used to smoke in my early 20's ... a high school hold over habit. I did it for 5 years and quickly got addicted, smoked over a pack a day... When I decided to quit cold turkey... I found I didn't know what to do with my hands without my prop cigarette. I was told to chew gum and put a pencil or pen in my hands and just stay busy. The first week was hell. The second was better... but it took a few good weeks to get past it. You know where to find me pal... I got your back on this, So hang in there kiddo.

I never told you I smoke? You literally know everything about me! I heard it's also harder to quit smoking cigs than quitting hard drugs. And I don't know what to do with my hands either!! They are so used to picking up a cig you know? I am diving into my book to keep busy and this weekend I am honestly just going to sleep and watch movies. Let the withdraw begin! Thanks as always my dear friend. You're so good to me :))

I know,... it's funny how because we are not in the real world as friends face to face, some of those things just get missed. But that's okay, you're on the wagon now girlfriend because you have to quit for you to be in your best health. My mother smoked 50 years, including through all her pregnancy's. She is very conservative, and didn't believe in shrinks, she was old school of hard knocks all the way. Then...someone told her she had to go to this therapist which did hypnotherapy to help you stop smoking. Two sessions and she never picked up a cigarette again. But the damage was already done, her cilia were completely destroyed. If you quit within a certain period of time, they can regain some health of your cilia. They are extremely important because they are the goblet cells that secrete mucus, which helps protect the lining of the bronchus and trap microorganisms.

I found myself twirling pencils, then drawing and doodling a lot. Also, chewing gum or sucking on hard candy slowly helps satiate that habitual need for having something in your hands or mouth. Smoking is a whole ritual…not just the addiction. So you have to substitute the ritual with doing something else too I think.
