I'm not sure I agree with " rotten" but I do agree that holding things in can do lots of damage, put on the happy face and turmoil inside begins. After years of doing this and holding the pain I couldn't take it anymore. I just burst at the seams. Life is so much better now. Centered, knowing what's really important, simple life.,. All good
