Really anxious about the future.

So I'm currently studying International Business at university and am going to take a gap year to gain accreditation and live in Spain for 6 months to teach english and learn the language properly. Over the last year my anxiety and depression has hit it's peak and I find it so hard to even leave my house for even the smallest things like a walk.

Yesterday my brother suggested I go to visit our grandparents with him and stay a night. I agreed to go but was really panicked and I could feel my anxiety crippling me slowly. He then suggested we stay two nights and I nearly stopped breathing. I didn't go in the end, as even stepping out of the house was giving me extreme anxiety after the two nights suggestion.

I had a conversation with my mum and she was very quick to point out that I was fine a year ago and she can't understand why I struggle so much now. I lived alone in uni accommodation last year and was frequently using public transport with no problems whatsoever but this last year has been really hard. I can't pinpoint what started it and how it's gone on for so long but it's worse than it has ever been. Mum made comments about my plans for the coming year and now I feel even more anxious than before.

I know I can force myself because my career is the one thing I have control of and I refuse to let anything get in the way but I'm worried about just how bad the fallout will be when the time comes. I'm used to distracting myself with projects and goals so I literally don't have the time to be depressed or anxious but for some reason, nothing is working this time around.

If you can, try to go on line to podcasts by Huberman, a neuro professor at Stanford University. Check out his podcasts on anxiety. He suggests Ashwanda at night. I find it helpful and take with green tea every night. Huberman at Stanford has so many podcasts to help your nervous system. Podcast #5 and 6 is quite helpful. He has one strictly on Anxiety. He is wealth of information.

Laying off gluten and never drink from plastic anything has helped me. . Dr. Tom O'Bryan"You Can Fix Your Brian," is most helpful in this explanation about how these things affect our nervous system and brain.

Sleep is really helpful, music, yoga, meditation, and walking in nature is extremely therapeutic. People on here already recommended some of these ideas but they are effective if you find the one you like.

Just some things that help me. I love to laugh when I get a great show that spurs my humor and a good belly laugh is good for my soul and anxiety.

Find a good friend you can talk to who is understanding and will not judge. A friend you can speak to face to face if possible as that is what human were made for. Humans need to socialize.

Hi socratesanne. Thank you for the recommendations! I will definitely look into this. I just hate feeling so anxious - I was never like this before. It just kind of came from nowhere and has taken over my life.

Hey ChavivLeon, I'm doing a lot better - still struggling but working on it. Thank you for checking in! How are you?

I truly believe knowledge is power over anxiety. Best for your continued healing. All of our energy fields are in state of anxiety at times which plays havoc in our day to day not being able to socialize as we once was able. Hopefully it will get back to accommodate our need to socialize. While enjoying my own company and you can learn to enjoy your own company and find our you have a lot to offer your own healing needs. Best wishes!

Sorry! I had a slight meltdown.. I think it has been brewing for a while if I'm honest. I'm doing a lot letter! I'm going out for a walk tomorrow and I'm going to start trying to go a few times a day to just centre myself some more.

I'm so glad you're doing well! That's so good to hear. I can understand the anxiousness about being back in the classroom but I understand the element of face to face being better. I much prefer it to the online stuff we had to do. There just wasn't a proper connection allowing for passion in the learning online you know?

This website sounds great! I'd be more than happy to give it a look and provide feedback. Just let me know! It seems like it will make life a lot simpler for you and allow for your calendar to be organised properly without the need for a PA haha.

Ooo that sounds like fun. I go to the local charity shops to hunt out the books that I really feel could bulk up my library nicely. I understand completely what you mean!

I went and collected some first edition Harry Potter books today. It has me super excited as I used to have them but I lost them in a house fire years ago. I have the new book sets but there's just something about the hardback originals so I'm super happy with this!

First edition Harry Potter books? Are you related to Bill Gates by any chance? How the heck did you manage that?

Lmao. I just looked everywhere until I found them. Some people were selling them on Facebook which was funny because I never thought to look there. You should try it!

Hahahaha! Believe me, I was looking everywhere for them! I finally managed to find them via Facebook would you believe it?

That sounds like a nightmare in the heat! Hopefully next time you'll find something while looking around!

Thank you! I will definitely use some exercises, it's daunting but hopefully it'll get better the more I go out. Feel free to send me a message about the website, I can't wait to see it!
