One thing I'm not crazy about is my fear of flying I used to fly and I know it's not rational so I need to get over it. Planning a plane ride this winter if I can cope with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone here ever gotten over their fear of flying.
well in the airplane the thing that gives me anxiety is when the plane takes off or there’s turbulence.
Yeah me too that's the worst
I used to be terrified to fly. Never thought I'd ever get on a plane again. I tried a fof group and it was useless...a sham. Finally I found this therapist who only does fof therapy. She was great. Spent several appointments with her talking, looking at statistics, doing relaxation exercises etc. She had me start by doing things that made me uncomfortable like going 10 floors on an elevator, then 20, 30, 50. Not exactly the same fear but they relate. Finally we took a short flight (she came with). Piece of cake. I still don't like flying but I can do it. Let me know if you want to know more.
Yeah talk to my counselor about it not much help there. That's so cool you found a therapist to ride with you might have to explore that. I live in a small town 50 mi away from any major metropolitan City. No elevators here haha. Sometimes I wonder if it's really worth dealing with I'm kind of a homebody and there's lots to do around where I live.
I get it. I dont fly much anymore. At the time I had to for work. I'm not big on travel anymore and pretty content settled where I am or going on a roadtrip.
My friend always asks her GP for Benzodiazepine 5 mg and she gets some off him just for the flight. They calm you down completely so worth a try
Thanks for the info. Yeah I'm going to have some happy pills on standby just in case I start getting real nervous.
I got on it and flew and landed in Mexico Glad I did it. Got me over my fear of flying in a heartbeat. Experience is only way to get it done.
