Is there difference when depression is caused by a trigger rather than a depression that comes randomly for no reason ???

Not sure technically, but I've felt both before. A trigger for me is someone saying something hurtful around a past experience, for example. Can totally derail me for days.

I would say absolutely there is a difference. I was never depressed in my life until I experienced trauma in my late 50’s. Yes, I would have an occasional down day...who doesn’t...but nothing like the true depression I have experienced since the trauma,

I think there is. My trigger is made to feel my mothering was bad or anything negative of. Made to feel bad. The out of blue makes my head hurt trying to figure out and understand. Hope we r helping. Anytime.
