Hi.I'm sorry you're struggling. I fight it daily too. I try to exercise and go out for a walk to calm myself. Distract yourself by listening to music.making tea.keep busy. But I know how awful it is. Big hugs xx

Hello Rizo, Max again here.

Have you tried a faster walk, or a jog or even a gentle run. Set a target every day - there is a feeling of satisfaction that fights anxiety and depression, when you reach it. Like an athlete.

Got myself a mountain bike after not being out of the house for 18 months , years ago. Was like a holiday the first time I went out, thru gentle hills and watching the sunset at the village pond.

Just a thought and an opinion. Take care and keep safe.

Max

Hi max that's great advice. I go on my exercise bike most days to try and fight the anixety. And go out on a long walk. It does help a little. Im so glad you had a mountain bike. I enjoy cycling you can see so much more. And it helps with concentration. Thank you so much . You're very kind x

Yes. I wake urgently with a ball of anxiety in my stomach. Have had to drop caffeine and booze. Rethink my work load. My diet. Everything! I have found the headspace app very good for a calming and short meditation for getting off to sleep and waking. Is there anything like those changes you can try? I have also had to go on medication that seems to be helping with the other changes xx

I’m on lexapro 20 and sometimes Xanax- this is normally a cycle for me but this one isn’t quitting. I’m very depressed over it

Hello 19710719 :)

Waking up in the morning can in itself be a trigger if we don't have the right mind set.

Morning can be the perfect time for anxiety to take hold, that is, if we allow it to.

First we need to understand why the fear is so high upon awakening. The background

is already in place the night before. Until we can be rest assured that we can wake up

relaxed, we go to sleep with that last negative thought on our mind.

During the early morning hours, our Cortisol and Adrenaline levels start to rise.

The average person can accept it as a good excited feeling in being alive. We on the

other hand think of it as threatening. We wake up, we struggle with what we are thinking and feeling and the next thing you know we are in a "free floating anxiety wave".

Now we can "pop" a pill to get momentary relief and then spend that time worrying about

"what if" it comes back. Not a good way to live our lives with "what if" hanging over our

heads. Remember that there is not a magic pill or magic wand that can take away anxiety.

However, it doesn't have to be a lifetime sentence unless we allow it to.

Knowing and finding the root of your anxiety and then have it addressed by a professional

is important. Along with medication, it can buy you time to find other alternatives in dealing with stressful situations. Accepting that Anxiety as not a life threatening condition and truly believing in that theory is the key to your success. That can come from reading a book by

Dr. Claire Weekes "Hope & Help for Your Nerves" or simply watching her free videos on YouTube. It will give you some basis as in how to help yourself go forward because after all

it is all about you finding and accepting what works best.

I'd like to take this time to Welcome you to this amazing forum. This site with help support you through your journey in getting well. I'm glad you here with us. Today is the day to start

a fresh Chapter. :) xx

Thank-you for your kind words. I will look into that Drs. Book. Do you have any tips when you feel it coming on right when you wake up? I do go to sleep typically calm but then morning hits and BAM- anxiety back full force

I certainly do. I have fully recovered from Anxiety because I found ways to counteract

the adrenaline. For me, it took Meditation and Breathing to put both my Mind and Body at ease. I Meditate 3x a day. First thing upon awakening (20 min) which sets me

up with a positive train of thought. Midafternoon I do a 10min meditation to regenerate myself. And last but most important is the meditation I do before sleep. Sometimes even

falling asleep while meditating. This last session guarantee that my subconscious mind

will close the day on a positive note.

I am here to pass my success forward (as others on this site are ready to help as well)

It's going to be okay. It takes work but well worth the effort and the outcome. :) xx

Is there a meditation site you could recommend? I am a Christian and don’t know where to start. I have a hard time focusing during anxiety.

Of course. My "go to" is YouTube. I will get back to you with a few

suggestions in what I have used. The key to meditation working is in

not waiting until you are in the throws of anxiety/panic. This must be

a daily practice. So if and when stress overtakes you or Anxiety, you are

more than prepared to react in a positive helpful way. Will get back shortly xx

Hi Agora1, You said you meditate 3x a day. 🙏I like the sound of that and I feel it's doable. Upon waking and mid-afternoon, what do you do as far as your meditation? How do you get in that meditative head space?🤔

I listen to my headphones. I bring it with to doctor/dental appointments while

sitting in waiting room. Because I've been doing this for longer than I can count,

I just need to hear the first couple words of a meditation (my own or YouTube)

and I am drawn into a relaxed state of mind and body. My shoulders immediately

move down away from my ears, I deep breathe and exhale slowly. I can literally

stop any adrenaline feeling that may arise...within moments.

It's all about practice. :) xx

Is that a YouTube meditation?

Agora1 profile image
Agora1 in reply to 19710719

Hi again 1971, Here are just 3 of my favorites on YouTube

"Guided Meditation Reducing Panic, Anxiety & Worry"

by the Honest Guys

"5 Minute Quick Anxiety Reduction/Guided Mindfulness Meditation"

by Mindful Peace

"Positive Mins in 5 Minute Meditation" by Jason Stephenson

As you will see, the voice is very important as to how our brain

connects to the suggestions given.

The more you listen to Meditation the easier it will be to go into

a peaceful state quicker and quicker. It doesn't make any difference

in the length of the meditation. It's the concentration you give it that pays off.

Those 5 min meditation can be just as regenerating as longer ones.

Don't get discouraged...Practice makes perfect. My best :) xx
