Sertraline - sleep problems

Hi I been taking sertaline for 6weeks just starting my 7th for anxiety and depression, first few weeks anxiety was intense now I’m just having trouble staying asleep the whole night, anyone know how long this lasts for?

Any SSRI/SNRI can take weeks to begin to take effect and months to reach a therapeutic level. I know it sucks, but that is simply how they work. Benzos are fast acting, but addictive. They can bridge the gap between now and when the SSRI/SNRI kicks in; however, they should be stopped sooner rather than later.

Talk to your doc about your issues.

Yeah I don’t mind waiting it’s not like I’m waking up and wide awake I wake up once and I stay up for about half hour then manage to get back asleep but still annoying, was just wondering if this was going to be the case say 6 months down the line

Hi,I don't take Sertraline anymore, but I remember I had issues with sleeping too in the beginning. For me, it got better a couple months into taking the medication.

I’m not having trouble getting asleep not at all, in fact I go asleep quite easily, it’s just staying asleep I go asleep around 9.30-10.00 every night then I’ll wake up around 12 o’clock every single night without fail, then it’ll take me between 5 minutes to a hour to get back asleep just want to know other people s experiences on it and if it go any easier, I’ll be on week 7 in two days time
