Work Anxiety

Recently, I have been overwhelmed at work and sometimes feel like it’s over my head. I been on the job for over a year and I feel very confident and get good performance reviews. Why do I feel like this even though I go to therapy.

Probably because you don’t get enough breaks and you get burn out - Hiba

I get two 2 half hour lunch breaks and I take breaks to go to the bathroom. I am burn out, but I like what I’m doing to a point.

Hi gkamerman, and I'm sure you are very good at what you do. However...after reading your profile, I can understand somewhat of the stress in being a support rep. Not sure what the job entails but being on the phone all day talking with people is a quick way to burnout.

(mental burnout)

The fact that you struggle from anxiety/depression allows the job (no matter how much you like it) to be stacked on what you are already personally are dealing with.

Whether working from home or not, I would use part of those 2 half hour lunch breaks to

squeeze in a 10 min meditation. Meditation if done properly and long term can help release the stress of both the body and the mind.

I have experienced both kinds of jobs in my lifetime.. I would pick physical stress over mental stress each time. Dealing with the public is hard enough, dealing with them over the phone can be near impossible on a daily basis w/o getting stressed and burned out.

Our jobs can be a trade off at times. If we like it enough to stay with it, then we need to

find other methods in reducing our stress and burnout. After all, you can't support anyone if you aren't supported yourself. My best to you :) xx

Thank you for the response. I will do the meditation before going back to work. Also, I do the meditation before work too.

gkamerman, Incorporate your breathing exercises along with Meditation.

I have long gotten over my anxiety in using these 2 tools daily.

Upon awakening, midafternoon and before bed. We can't wait until we need

this before using the methods. It's a continual buildup that allow us to be

prepared for daily stressors that may arise.

I hope this helps you some. :) xx

Yes that can be tough to manage doing work over the phone or online and not in person. But it seems like you know the ins and outs of your job and feel confident about your ability to do the job, so I think that's all you need. 👍

It's so hard to work with anxiety and depression. I was self employed cuz of. Then one day I walked out on my self. Thank the Lord my husband took it all over. But then in September 11 2015 fire took everything we had. All our business (5) our home. I felt bad for everyone who lost everything too. But not for us. I was greatfull. Our family was falling apart, they were draining our life and family. We had insurance and it was cuz by PGE. Rented a house for a month then in tents. But I was getting sickening worse cuz of the smoke of the fire. Everywhere was smoke. Many fire's around us, couldn't get from it. So we decided to buy a house that was in December. Being a mother before taking care of me follow through Christmas for the grandkids and great grandkids.on 26 I finally went in the hospital. I barely made it. 2 weeks I was able to go home and home nurses. On oxygen full time. I thank God every day I'm a live ❣️

It happens to all of us, and it can happen more to those who do well and get good performance reviews. Sometimes we are struggling with other things and it manifests itself in a lack of confidence at work. Sometimes it's just really stressful and we start to doubt ourself. Maybe you can talk to your therapist about things you can do to release the stress and the self-doubt whether it's exercising, finding a new hobby, redirect yourself when you feel like you are struggling, etc. You could also consider talking to your boss and checking in about how you are doing just to make sure you are on the same page. This may help you a lot. Sometimes when we doubt, we think the worst when things are really okay. Be good to yourself and believe in yourself. Take it fifteen minutes at a time, it works! Don't get too ahead of yourself. If you are a person of faith, ask God to strengthen you and give you peace. Stay strong. I wish you peace.
