Hello all. I have tapered from 30mg to 15mg since 2 days. I am having insomnia, I have slept for 9 hours in 2 days. I know this is not enough sleep, but surely I can't sleep more than a few hours and I wake up to any noise.
Should I increase my dose to 22.5mg instead of 15mg?

Hi, I’m just about to stop mirtazapine and start a new medication. I was on 45mg so brought down to 30mg for a week then 15mg I’ve been ok? I’ve got a burning or tingling sensation on my scalp but not sure if that’s my anxiety or because of the reduced dosage? My sleep has remained good which I was surprised about. How long have you been on mirtazapine? X
I've been on Mirtazapine for 9 months. I was on 15mg initially, then increased to 30mg. To be honest I know I'm not getting enough sleep but I feel more alive, not sedated.
Don't be concerned about the tingling sensation, don't give it a big deal.
I was like that too, from the first night I took it I slept through the night, which made me feel better. I’ve never felt sedated the next day, I did have severe anger the first couple of weeks? My doctor said it was just me seeing the world in all it’s glory after being on paroxetine so long. It’s really tough deciding dosage etc. Are you better with it? Is it just the sleep that’s an issue? I know for me I started power walking in the morning which really helps with sleep. For me the anxiety was so bad I knew I had to come off them. Thank you for the advice on scalp issues I was freaking myself out with it 🤦🏻♀️as we do lol x
Life is full of challenges and problems, our anxiety builds up due to the fact that we are afraid to act. Ultimately, hiding from responsibilities strengthens the anxiety. We have to face any challenge that is brought upon us and act in a responsible manner. Day by day, the anxiety will be so small to notice as we learn how to deal with different situations.
Regarding the dosage, as I've seen on multiple websites, it is best to taper 10% of the dosage each month.
That’s so true!! Yes I’ve saw that too and was wary of my taper but I’ve had the same doctor since I was 20 (now 40) he is absolutely brilliant and patient with me so I trust him 💯 I never looked up side effects because for me I then start to believe I have every one, if that makes sense? I came off paroxetine also with no issues and tend to respond well to medication. Not sleeping well only makes the anxiety worse. I really wish you the best of luck with your decision and please let us know how you are getting on. X
