Afraid all the time

Am I the only one living in constant fear? I am afraid of being kicked out of where I live. I am afraid of losing my job and not being able to find another as I am almost 62. I am afraid of my kids completely forgetting me since I rarely hear from them and then it is the most superficial conversations. How do I find a way to live without the constant terror?

I don't have the answer. I'm the same way. I worry about everything.

I used to be exactly like you. Going to work was unbearable. I starting getting giant hives because of it. The pain, burning, and itching constantly drove me crazy. I had to go out on disability. It took 5 years to get social security disability. I lost everything: my job, my house, my car...I was lucky in one respect, my son bought a house for me to live in. If it wasn't for him,I'd probably be dead.

In your case a lot of your anxiety (I think) is from a lack of control over your situation. First things, first. I check with HUD (hud.gov) to see if you qualify for subsidized housing. Granted, it's not the best, but you will have more control over your life and less fear of going home and dealing with your brother. If your brother doesn't want your help with your mom, then let him do it all.

Next, get your resume together It is easier to find a job when you already have one. I don't know what you do, but any job with a comparable wage and benefits is all your really need. Check job boards and apply for any job you can.

Once you start taking control, you will feel better. You do not need to live or work with bullies. But, it is up to you to put an end to it. If there is domestic violence in the home, please, please, please contact the domestic violence hotline. 800.799.7233

I wish you the very best!
