Try to get the surgery done as soon as possible so that your anxiety is relieved. I am sure you know that surgery is very safe now, but it can still provoke a lot of anxiety. I think the fear comes from the loss of control.

Yes loss of control and fear of anesthesia. But I can’t walk in pain either. I wake up with fear and anxiety every day over this. Thank you for responding

What kind of surgery are you having. I had a hip replacement so just wondering if it is the same.

I need partial knee replacement. I fractured my pattela and it did not heal properly because I didn’t have surgery. Now I’m stuck with a more involved surgery. I’m terrified. I’m on anti anxiety meds and barely get through the day. Thank you for your reply . How was your surgery experience

My hip replacement was great. No pain and I recovered very fast. I think knees are. a slower recovery. I have a friend who had one and there was some pain afterwards and a slower recovery and a need for physical therapy. However, after healing he was great-no discomfort and could do anything. I don't think these are very long surgeries, maybe and hour and a half and you wake up pretty quickly and not vital organs involved. Maybe talk to the surgeon's nurse about how anxious you are. She may be able to help. Good luck!!
