Strange time for anxiety

Why is it that most of my panic attacks come right after eating?

I find it so strange. Maybe my therapist can tell me anything about it next time I visit her.

Maybe it’s Health Anxiety I have other than just regular anxiety

Im not sure how your panic attacks manifest themselves but I too have suffered panic moments after eating. Part of it may be that on a full belly your diaphragm is pushing a bit on your lungs which could set off symptoms such as shortness of breath. You are not alone. Ive been using a workbook called Panic Attacks Workbook by David Carbonell. There are some helpful excersises in there such as belly breathing. Hope this helps. God bless!

Hi JP8810

It is very possible. I mean my first ever panic attack was because I felt like I couldn’t breath.

I’m glad I’m not the only one :)

Hi. You might have acid reflux that can mimic panic attack.

Porto’s is the best!!!! Too bad there isn’t one near me anymore since I moved. Closest one to me is one in a city called Buena Park.

I really like the 3 leches cake lol.

I highly recommend it. Brunch buffet with endless mimosas 🤤🤤🤤

in reply toalfreddy7

Ooooh nothing like a Sunday brunch with endless mimosa, some smoked salmon avocado toast, and egg Benedict sandwich 😋😋 I’ll check it out when I have a chance. 🙏

Hi this Shnookie. I live in Beverly Hills but worked in Glendale in the mid-90’s. Porto’s was my go to place. Their papas

rellenos and guava cream cheese danish were outrageous. Brings back a lot of fond memories

This happens to me as well. When you start digesting food, your body goes into a fight-or-flight state. For most people, it's not really noticeable, but it tends to be stronger for people with anxiety. This could also be a symptom of reactive hypoglycemia, but it would be good to talk to a doctor about this. Also, if you feel nauseous after you eat, it might be good to have a peppermint or cough drop on hand when you eat in case you need it afterwards.

Maybe that I answers my question of why I do eat a lot do sweets.Although last time my doctor took my blood work she said I was healthy physically. Everything was looking good

Yeah. I think reactive hypoglycemia is different from typical hypoglycemia, but I don't know much about the different terminologies.

I have no idea why panicked attacks happen when they do but just recently I found out I was all kinds of deficient in serotonin vitamin D, iron,b12 and other b vitamins because of a genetic mutation I have. My natropath found out I have hashimoto's ,a thyroid disease. Western medicine Drs only did a standard panel and everything looked "fine" I suffered for so long thinking I was going crazy. After being treated for those things my panic attacks are pretty much gone. It took time but I found my panic attacks were a result and deficiencies and stress because of all those issues. Best of wishes to you and I hope your panic attacks go away. You have to ask Drs to please check vitamin levels.

Hello ..this happened to me for years ... only recently discovered I have a pancreas problem ...which affects digestive system , it’s called EPI ... have been told this condition can cause anxiety because shortage of enzymes being released when eating ....I’ve yet to take the medication for this condition but will let you know if the anxiety stops now that my new health condition is being treated ......interesting that EPI left untreated can affect blood ...?the only reason I have not started the new medication (enzymes) is I have a small hospital procedure to go through ... thought I would get this out of the way first ...Lainie x

As others have stated, you could have physical reasons, even food sensitivities. I do. I do not suffer panic from eating, but often my heart races and pounds so hard after certain things. I also have hypoglycemia and not eating and/or eating certain things set it off! Mexican food can really do it, plus sweets, red wine, chocolate, and eating too much at one time. Try food journaling to see if there is a pattern🙂

I find that really spicy foods mess with my head...triggering my anxiety and ocd. Milk a dairy sometimes mess me up to.
