Strange Symptoms - Is it anxiety?

I have suffered from mild anxiety for years, but I have had some really strange symptoms lately and I did go to the doctor, but he could not find anything wrong. Last night, I added one more symptom.

Fist, I have had neck, jaw and ear pain for a few weeks. I kind of thought it was a sinus infection, but the doctor ruled it out. I also thought it might be TMJ because I do grind my teeth. It seems to feel better but then gets worse again.

Last night I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my throat on the opposite side of the other pain. It is not a sore throat, but feels very odd. It feels a bit better this morning, but I still feel it and I am scared it will return when I eat something, since that is when I first felt it.

I don't know where to begin as far as treating these symptoms. I know I should go back to the doctor, but I feel like they may just brush it off as a virus or anxiety.

Has anyone ever experienced these symptoms before?

I am experiencing it now. It s tension from stress. Muscles are so tight it does cause neck, throat and ear pain and teeth pain from clenched jaws. When I notice I’m doing it and relax, the pain goes away. It is most definitely anxiety in my case. I just have to notice when I start to tense up and remind myself to relax.

Thanks - it's funny because my son gets it all the time from anxiety. I have just never had these symptoms before. I know I grind and clench my teeth during the day. I have been trying to catch myself doing it so I can stop, but it is so strange,

It is strange. I do that with my teeth so much that my bottom teeth have a smooth top. Been doing it for years just never knew it was from anxiety until I started panicking behind the symptoms a few years ago.

Do you ever get a sharp pain in your throat when you swallow or eat food? That is what I am feeling now

Yes it's not uncommon to have those type of feelings I get a lot of nausea along with sensations in my throat and I have sinus problems I think when you're depressed or you have any kind of illness like ours it's magnified it's also important to calm yourself by looking in your throat and seeing if you have any actual issues I had thrush and there are ways to treat thrush even babies have thrush learning to deep breathe every few minutes throughout the day actually helps me calm down you're not alone in strange symptoms feel free to contact me anytime I'm the queen of strange symptoms oh and by the way I had a complete CT scan of my entire body and I still think there's something wrong with me lol

Oh yes. I have nausea often, post nasal drip and thrush. I do a daily peroxide rinse regimen to help with that. With my jaws clenched it keeps my mouth closed which becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. We have a lot of common symptoms.

I constantly tell myself that I am fine. That is how I get through.

Sounds like your jaw is adjusting and it's putting a strain on a few tendons. It will settle once your jaw has got used to the position. My jaw adjusted many times due to grinding my teeth and once even locked up for 2 days. I occasionally find myself clenching my jaw & the reward I get for that is usually a tension headache :p

If it doesn't get better or the pain gets worse in your throat i'd go back and ask to be referred to ENT so they can take a look and see if you've got a polyp or something.
