I’ve been off work for a week and never left the house. I’m working from home but the thought of going back to work even from home is spiking my anxiety.
I work in customer service and it can be stressful, especially as I feel I don’t get any support at work.
Not sure if it’s time to look for a new job?

Hi ivydog, sometimes the thought of going back to work is worse than actually going back! That said I was off work for a month recently and was very anxious about returning. Even though I was working for home I planned time off over the coming months to make sure I was looking after myself and had something to look forward to. If you think this type of work is not for you then definitely look for something that feels more in keeping with who you are! Customer service can be very demanding and stressful 😔 take care
Hi Ivydog. It takes a lot of guts to work in customer service, on top of which it is a job that is really underappreciated. I can see how it would generate anxiety! Maybe while you have this job you can look for another? Easy for me to say, I know. Sounds like you’ve more than paid your dues in this position.....
Thank you. I used to love going to work even after a week off until a few years ago. At first I would try shake it off and say I was being silly but over the years it’s gotten worse and I feel so isolated and alone. I actually feel physically sick at the thought of going to my work.
I’ve never really looked for a new job as I didn’t want to take an opportunity away from someone who didn’t have a job but I think I do need to find something else and your right I’m probably best trying to look for one whilst I have this job.
Thank you everyone. I don’t feel quite so alone now.
