I'm searching for how to alleviate my depression ups/downs every few weeks ("episodic?" or "recurrent"):
especially to soften the downs so I'm far less dysfunctional,
+ also to extend the ups.
I don 't think I'm bipolar (or at least never diagnosed or even suggested).
My downs make me almost totally dysfunctional = zero/negative self-esteem +no confidence /motivation /interest in things. Almost everything I see /hear /think of feeds my negativeness.

My daughter is a nurse, and for my birthday got me CBD gummies(broad spectrum). I take them as my anxiety and depression are striking. It helps(not completely eliminates). I was skeptical at first. Anyway, I just joined group here. Hang in there. Glad to see I'm not alone, but I am having difficulty with my family understanding.
Hi there I am fairly new on here as well but have you checked with your doctor because that to me sounds that it could be bipolar... I talk to my psychiatrist recently because I have mood swings severe mood swings during the day it can go from anxiety and then into a depression a very low face and then afterwards I’m perfectly fine again and he suggested Lamictal...What drug are you currently on?
I am on Zoloft and HRT and the doctor believes that my severe mood swings are due to hormonal fluctuations because of menopause.... but whichever the reason the psychiatrist said Lamictal can be used to even out moods so maybe you want to ask your doctor about that good luck to you I’m here if you want to talk more... xo Julie ❤️☀️
Big apologies, Iwanttobefreeofpain, for not replying months ago (as I don't access healthunlocked very often). Thank you for taking the time to reply. Never any suggestion that my condition =bipolar +I don't think it is exactly, altho obviously it sounds similar. Re "choosing" prescribed drugs: I think we have to trust the experts or at least certainly more than my judgement as a non-medical person - even tho sometimes I think basically they don't know what will help me. I suspect my prescribed medication might just have made no difference at all - but the point is I do not know, + what works well for other people is not enough for me to pounce on what they take as my fixit. I certainly do not think anything's worth trying because my current regime has not helped me enough over several years - but I do accept that maybe it would have been worse without it.Wishing you some pain-free time.....
