What do you do when you’re consumed by depression, anxiety and pain and still working? I’m so tired of putting on a happy face, I’m so tired of the constant pain, I’m at rock bottom with my mental and physical health.

Maybe you could see your doctor and go on the sick for a time so you can have a rest and recover a bit? Is this possible?

Hi, my doctor has just put me on sick for the next two weeks but I feel like I’m just falling apart

Well see how you feel at the end of 2 weeks and then decide if you feel fit enough to return to work. You will get an assessment within 13 weeks anyway so I would take it one week at a time.

Hi Lion, sorry about what your going through. I've also hit rock bottom physically and mentally and feel like no one understands.Try to keep going and express yourself. When your back is against the wall the only way to go is forward. Good luck to you.

That’s a good question i feel like you should take a break for me during freshman and sophomore year my depression was bad in freshman year because of being bullied i had bad thoughts was super scary because I would never think like that had to go to the doctor and had to take a break of being in school in person for a week . Take your time take a long break until you feel better . Do things that will help you with your anxiety and depression and pain . Much kindness and support ❤️✌️- Hiba

It's the current mask mandate that save me. Can't see how I feel. I'm struggling alot and trying to change, starting therapy Tuesday. Try to ignore the pain, I am not the picture of mental health lol

From personal experience I have found it better to be doing something than not because it gets you out and among others and also gives you a sense of purpose where you are serving the community in some way. Some of those people at work may well be going through the same thing. These feel like tough times for many what with the pandemic. As you mentioned depression can feel so tiring at times. The thing is to find out your triggers. Do you have hidden worries? Is there something you could do to alleviate things? Maybe you need to rest more when at home for example. Certainly do not feel you need to hide your inner sadness. Just allow yourself to feel what you feel. Maybe there are a few understanding individuals you could open up to. You can always do that here. Learn to be kinder to yourself. This is the key. Not sure if you have spoken to a therapist before now . The therapist could determine whether the depression is more a physical thing or not as in a chemical or hormonal imbalance. Much of the time depression is caused by our negative thinking. Use the time the doctor has given you off to rest up. Our bodies and minds all need breaks. Perhaps the job you do feels too excessive. Could you ask about lessening your hours? Is there a job you would prefer to do? Bringing more satisfaction and inner peace. Have a good think about things. Is there a hobby you`d always thought about doing but never actually done? Writing things down could bring more clarity. Congratulate yourself when you achieve things however small. Even treat yourself with a little gift now and then. Sounds like you maybe are too harsh on yourself. It is said we are often our own worst critics! This can be so true.

You know depression can come about as a kind of safety mechanism. It tries to help slow us down because sometimes we are just moving too fast. Anxiety similarly tries to keep us safe too.

You must tell yourself that you are doing your very best. And know that sometimes you may feel weak. You may not always know why. You just are. And learn to go with it. But know you will have brighter days and much stronger days. You are never alone in these thoughts. It merely feels like you are. Take care and God bless Lion x

It is exhausting to do the job & play the role. I don't know what the answer is. I'm very lucky. I work at a nonprofit Mountain View Wellness Center. We are a day rehab cntr for people dealing with emotional/mental challenges. Some people have been there for 30+ yrs. I've been there for 15. I am lost since the lockdown. Can't wait to get back there. I also work there as we are 99% peer run. We have a handful of "normal" professionals that keep us on track but we do the bulk of everything from working in the kitchen, arranging events, teaching classes (I teach creative writing but we have classes in health & wellness, art, music, theater). I also work in the office doing the data entry for the help line. Every county in America has a Mountain View Ctr. Maybe you could find one near you. Maybe they could get you a better job. or something.

Wow that sounds amazing! Doing something like that would be so reward but I’m not sure we have anything like that in the U.K.

I'm sorry that's what you're going through.

UK? Why did I think you're from Texas? I can't believe that UK has nothing like that. Maybe they call it something like Adult Day Hab or something. Every center has its own name. Mtn View belongs to a group of 4 counties DOTS (Delaware, Otsego, Tioga, and Schoharey). Every year we have 3 events together. 1. The Ice Cream Social which is a big picnic at the beach. 2. The picnic at the park I don't know what name they give it. and 3. Camping at Pine Lake. Well, there's also the Walk-a-Thon for heart disease in August.

everyone goes. Except I don't do camping. Too many allergies. But its a lot of fun & we get to see friends we only see 3x a yr. The outside world doesn't really know about us. I only heard about it from my therapist. You have to have a recommendation from a therapist to get in the program.

Oh I almost forgot! We also have an annual competition between the counties. We have to achieve certain fitness goals, get points, and the center with the most points wins. Wins what I don't know. (We've never won! lol its just for fun)

Do you have a therapist? Ask them if there is anything like that near you. I hope so. The center has helped in more ways than I can count. They are not just my friends. They are my family.

Not what you're looking for?
