Well I hope I’m doin this right even by reading the posts I can see I’m not alone in this so I’m looking to push beyond where I am altho I’m not great at talking or tying (I did holes for a living lol) so here’s my story I’ve been different all my life not loving things that other people do hate goin abroad or different/busy places didn’t even do school trips because underneath my anxiety was the determined factor, learned to drive after all my mates passed not because I didn’t want to was just because of the stress of doin it, now I’m 30 and have everything goin right I mean it’s pretty much textbook have a good job, mortgage starting a family with my mrs but the last couple of years I feel like there is some kind of cloud over me that’s always been there but when it rains it pours (if that makes sense) I did see my gp and she said it sounds like stress, anxiety depression so she put me on sertaline which did not agree with me at all within the 3 weeks of taking them I had 2 panic attacks late last year one was when I was at work I got dropped off and my mrs phoned an ambulance because I couldn’t talk and breathe they said bin the tablets which I did, but since then I do worry about having another (since not taking them I haven’t had one) so like 6 months later I got back on to my gp and I’ve told here I’m getting blurry/dizzy spells which is another layer of anxiety on top of the other stuff ( I thought perhaps I just needed glasses but eye test was ok) feels like goin cross eyed anyway she’s put it down to vertigo so I was taking prochlorperazine which I’ve stopped because it’s making no difference with the head spinning, but due to being a anxiety med has it disagreed with me also because now I struggle to go shopping, get motivated or even be happy, duno where to turn now because I feel like she’s just not getting it do I need a new gp or a psychiatrist, sorry for the long intro cheers people

Welcome to the group! No you're definitely not alone. Drugs? Me personally I know nothing about them and have avoided them. I pretty much avoid any drugs unless completely nessesary so I can't help you there. However, there is a book! The answer to all your problems, maybe! Many of us here will tell you that the book by doctor Claire Weekes can be the key to beginning the journey to ridding yourself of anxiety. If that sounded like a corny advertising speech then I apologize, I'm knackered and can't even remember the name(s) of the book... Self help for your nerves is one.

Anyway, stick around and you'll find all the help you need 😁

Hi nice to meet you and welcome to the site. Don't be afraid to try a new med as they are different. I found sertraline really helps me but it's the third one I tried. You don't need a new GP but maybe a different ad? Good luck.

As you correctly pointed out, you are not alone in your struggles. The Pandemic has made mental health issues much worse. As you are already aware there are many treatment options. Have you tried either Buspirone(Buspar) or Quietipine? CBT is pretty successful for mental health issues also. Know that God loves you and is always willing to take your burdens from you. I will say a prayer for you. Peace to you!

Have you tried different kinds of therapy? Brenè brown was important to me. Cbt and Dbt work for others. The thing they have in common is they teach skills that you may be missing. If you have tried the meds path but not the educational therapy side I would say try it. Humans are not just a bag of chemicals that can be fixed with other chemicals!

Also what others like is no matter. I don’t want to travel with friends. I find friends to be exhausting in general. I could easily go off to a nice place and do art. I’m not alone in that. Plenty of people have and they are not crazy. Don’t let Norma bring you down you are perfect as you are.

You are not alone, many of us in this group have experienced disabling anxiety enough to understand what you are going through.Hope you find these replies helpful enough to steer a new course to recovery.

Of course, Its your choice whether you try a pill to suppress these issues...or decide to approach it without medication.I myself tried pills and before i stopped, all they seemed to do was stop me from feeling anything...just zombified and numbed my life.

My turning point to health began after i picked up a book by Dr Claire Weekes ..."Self Help for your Nerves" it is downloadable for free if you google the pdf version. The book is available via Ebay/Amazon.

You have described the pattern quite well...and it shows you are beginning to "body listen" every twinge or sensation you are feeling may convert and become a sign of impending doom..overly amplified.. heightened just enough to make you tense up more and more.Every symptom then requires reassurance from a medical professional to break the circle after tests reveal no under lying causes... which bring you back to square one...a new symptom ...a new "disease" Anxiety keeps changing its clothes...the more you try to suppress or run from it ...the newer the dress.

Dr Claire reveals how you "float" past those feelings ...make them matter not.Learn to let them run their course...no harm will actually come to you.

The brain does not know the difference between real and imagined...thats why you can wake from a bad dream sweating heart pounding...once you tell yourself its just a dream...you calm down....

If you keep telling your brain you are okay...it will believe you..

If you keep telling your brain something is wrong...it will believe that too!

Look up a youtuber called "Improvement Path" excellent before and after approaches to this condition....remember one thing...you may feel like something terrible is about to happen...but thats all it is....a feeling...that you have a way of making that feeling not count by not reacting to it...let it run its course...eventually you master this and lessen the panic.Hope you unlock the secrets to a much calmer and relaxed way of getting through each day real soon.
