I haven’t posted in awhile because I’ve been feeling pretty good for the passed year. However, I recently was diagnosed with stage 1 melanoma. This coming Wednesday I will be getting surgery and I am ABSOLUTELY terrified. My biggest fear is going under anesthesia. I’ve never went through it before and I’m so scared. My fear is the anticipation of going into it. Waiting to be put under and then when I wake up. I’m afraid I’m going to immediately start panicking because I’m going to feel loopy or just like not feel right at all. If someone could give me some advice that would be great and much appreciated

aspeers22, let me assure you that going under anesthesia will not hurt. You will never be
under better care than you are at that moment. The best of medical staff will be around you.
You usually get to speak with the anesthesiologist before having surgery. Let him know of your concerns and fears. Sometimes they are able to give you a little something before entering the operating room. You will be asleep before you know it and what may only seem like minutes after, the staff will wake you gently to, "it's all over aspeers". The peace and serenity you will feel for a while after is like nothing you can imagine. No fear, no anxiety and just a wonderful calming feeling of peace. I wish you well next Wednesday.
We'll all be here waiting to here from you. Good Luck dear xx
