I'll talk to you. I'm a 72 year old guy living outside of America as I just couldn't fit in there anymore. I'm happy now and will share with you.
Hello
Why couldn't you fit in anymore?
I was a Vietnam veteran and had a different view of the war than most others, especially those who didn't go. Because of my views I didn't fit in with most who thought we should have won the war. I thought that we should never have been involved in the war. I felt that it was up to the Vietnamese to solve their disputes. Instead we chose sides and basically destroyed the country over the next 2 decades. I was ashamed of my country and of myself for volunteering to fight. I was only 17 when I enlisted but I still should have known better. I don't regret leaving (in 1988) and have been back several times for visits but have no plans to go back to live.
I was in the British army, I joined in 1986, I was enjoying it but decided to leave when I started to hear about Iraq and that we might be going to war over there. I couldn't think of any reason for my country to fight with Iraq because they hadn't done anything to the UK.
So I sort of understand what you mean about the Vietnam war.
