Hello ! I not feeling particularly bad, just a bit lonely. Anyone available to chat for a bit? Thank you.
Lonely: Hello ! I not feeling... - Anxiety and Depre...
Lonely
Hello..
Have you got any snow there?
Hello Jimtom, thanks for your reply. No snow here at the moment. It snowed a few weeks ago, but it’s dry now.
It's the same here, I would like to have some, do you like it?
Yes I do like snow !
I see you live in France, is lockdown hard there?
Not at the moment. We just have quarantine
From 6 pm is it?
Yes exactly ! We can go outside after 6.00 pm, we just need to carry the attestation with us specifying the reason for going out and the time.
What time in the morning can you got out?
But I live in the countryside so I don’t have a lot of opportunities to meet people. My husband has been distant the past few days so I am feeling a little lonely. I’m very chatty you see 😃
That's good being in the country, I hope you get lots of people to chat with.
Are you north or south France, I know the south well but not the North?
I live to the North, in Normandie. What region do you like in the South ?
Aveyron.. I have a place there.
Do you know it?
I don’t know it at all ! 🤭 But this is ok, I am originally from Asia.
Oh OK then, that's understandable 😊
Thanks ! We are not very good with geography in Asia 😂
I hope you don't get lost 😅
Thanks 😂
What part of Asia are you from?
I moved here from Singapore
To be honest I don’t go out much, there is no public transportation here (still waiting for a date for the driving test). I was shocked that there are places in France where there is no public transportation (different from Asia). Is it the same in the English countryside ?
I'm in Northern Ireland, in the countryside there are buses but not many. You will be happy when you get your driving, a car means freedom..
Ah yes, I’m counting the days ! 🙂
Will you get it soon?
I’m not sure really. The driving school told me they will try to get a slot for me in Feb or March. Yes in France (contrary to the system in Asia) we need to go through a driving school to obtain the permit.
It's the same in most of the western world, driving school and then a driving test which you have to pass.
Ah I see ! I thought it was just France 🙂
No, there is no escaping it 😊
Well it’s ok anyway I am done with the driving classes, just need a date for the test..
If it’s not too indelicate, why did you decide to buy a house in France ? Are you planning to retire here ?
I have relatives there and I will retire there eventually.
That’s a nice perspective ! Like we say in French « c’est une belle perspective »
Oui, ça l'est
My French isn't great.
This is ok. You just need to be fluent by the time you retire 😃
Yes, I have time to learn 😊
I know you did not ask, but if I may be so forward, I would like to offer my help if you would like to practice French. My knowledge may be limited but my explanations are clearer (well at least to me 😂) than those from a French person !
If you are up for the challenge then I don't see why not 😊
That’s the spirit !! Why not 😃
OK, it might be fun 😀
For all the inconveniences of living in the countryside, I cannot say enough good things about my neighbours. They are unbelievably sweet ! We exchange jams, crepes, cakes, sometimes even pumpkins and zucchini 😂
That is a great thing about the French, they are very nice people.
They really are ! I am the only non-French person for miles around but they have been super warm and welcoming !
That's good that they have made you feel at home.
Yes I am really grateful for that.
Bonjour ThepurpleTulip,Me too feel lonely and bored. I also have a husband who is present physically but absent in every other way. Having sweet neighbours is a plus. Are good at making jams?
Bonjour Sal53. Nice to hear from you. Are you in France too ? I’m sorry to hear that you’re lonely too. Actually I feel very guilty for saying my husband is distant, he is only distant occasionally. But I feel very hurt (more than I should, I am an adult after all) probably because I am so far away from friends and family. Yes my neighbours are very good at making jams. For me, 2020 was the first year of jam making. 😃
Nice to hear you are feeling better ThePurpleTulip. No I am in U.K. I use to be a French teacher. You are right, we are after all adults and should be able to be self sufficient but this terrible pandemic and the lockdown is not helping. It feels like there is no end to it. Me too I spent all summer making jams, but what I am really missing is being with people, chatting, going out etc. Hopefully it will be soon over. Take care and all the best.
Bonjour Sal53. Oh you’re in the UK. We’re practically neighbours :-). I’m sorry to hear that you have not been able to meet people these past few months. I have been reading that the lockdown in the UK is pretty tough. In France we can still move around freely till the curfew of 6.00 pm. However with the virus we are generally hesitant to go out and meet people.
It’s lovely to hear you used to be a French teacher.
Voilà pleased to use my French to chat with you. Have a lovely day.
Yes this is a terribly lonely time. Most of the time I'm lonely, wasn't good before this virus so this has been a hard time. Do you see other people even at a distance?
Hello Arniestal. I’m so sorry to hear you’re lonely. It is such a horrible feeling right ? Sometimes I feel so lonely. It never lasts long, but it feels so intense. I also feel guilty for feeling lonely, because I think I should just be constantly grateful to have a wonderful husband. Yes sometimes he is distant and it hurts me a lot. But I am learning more and more not to let it hurt me :-)). He deserves to be distant sometimes if that’s what he wants or needs. I was feeling especially lonely when I typed the post, but feeling much better today. I do chat with my friends a lot, but I do miss being near them. Do you have a chance to meet people in real life or virtually ?
Glad you are feeling better. No I don't not really, trying to work out what I need to do when this awful lock down is lifted. I thought of getting a dog but it's people I need. Such a strange time now isn't it. Best wishes for the future to you x
Thank you very much for the wishes. I’m so sorry to hear that there are no people around for you to talk. Yes I think so too that just being around people or talking to people is exactly what we need at certain times. I do hope that more people come into your life after the lockdown. Until then, we are here :-). I don’t know how tough the lockdown is in your area, I hope you are still able to go out for walks to exercice the body. Hugs to you.
I’m available to chat
Hi just wanted to say feel free to message me whenever if you want to chat. I am on most days.
