Mindfulness
Yes, I find that it mindfulness does help. It's not easy, but it's effective when I can succeed at it. My favorite relaxation technique is the 4-7-8 breathing technique (also called "the calming breath") by Dr. Andrew Weil. It involves breathing in to a count of 4, holding for 7, and breathing forcibly out to a count of 8. There are demonstrations of it on YouTube if interested.
Hi Bigneil1 It absolutely does work for me.
First came medication/therapy, then came acceptance of anxiety and then
came Meditation and Breathing. By far, the last 2 methods work the best. xx
Yes it does help. I have tried it. It helps you not only clear your mind but helps you to focus and just "be" in the moment. They say thinking about your past causes depression thinking about the future causes anxiety but being in the present moment is calm. Mindfulness meditation also trains the brain to be calm and in the moment when not imeditating. I love "Positive Magazine" on you tube.
I practice mindfulness and I agree with the others, it is very helpful. My mindfulness time is integrated with my yoga practice, this works very well. Combining the two, at the same time every evening, helps tremendously with my sleep. Anxiety, recurring thought loops and bed time make for undesirable company, so I try to practice mindfulness/yoga an hour or so before bed. 🦋
Oh, breathing is something else I practice. Deep, guided breaths are what I try to do. Like MinnieMouse1234, I use the 4-7-8 method.
On Apple Music, I like splendor of meditation and poppy Jamie. On YouTube I like Jon Kabat-Zinn and Jason Stephenson.
I like the shorter ones...ten minutes or less.
Thank you everyone. Tried a couple of things and I definitely think it's something worth exploring further
