Hey hungryorca, I understand all too well . The system makes promises that it just dosnt always follow through with . Your not alone in that . My wonderful son has Tourette’s syndrome and associated problems, and haven’t received any help. I’ve literally begged at hospitals to help him , been to private doctors , Children’s hospital when he was young , you name it !!! I am still absolutely baffled, confused and shocked at the lack of care from any health professional here in Aus . Even the Tourette’s association couldn’t offer much accept a bunch of old numbers that were either disconnected or dead ends . So yes I absolutely understand how the lack of ACTUAL care affects a person. You are most certainly not alone. Fight for yourself, you are worth it !!!! It’s peoples jobs that ,who are paid for it , to help you . Please believe in yourself, and know you deserve help and healing❤️

Thankyou!! I just found it really bizarre when he has such an obvious illness. Fight for yourself if you have to , like I said you’re worth it and what you’ve been through is awful

Was just going through my msgs on here and you asked me a question about 2 months ago that I didn’t reply to . Sorry it’s 2 months late🤣. I want to answer because it feels good to get it out 😁. His tics started around 9 yrs old ( which is really common to start around this age )First facial tics , then sounds then his body when it was at his worst ; arms legs ( difficult to walk ) . We had very little support, actually none , from the school, even doctors. Which confused me because I live in Australia and it was 2010 so I though we were more advanced and understanding than that , I expected lots of support, especially from the school, it’s not the dark ages . I was very naive , very very scared and probably had rose coloured glasses on . They made me feel it was my fault, it was really terrible, still traumatised and he’s suffering really badly mentally. Praise God his tics have gotten better now that he’s 22 but he’s deeply scarred and tried to take his life last week but he has help from God now through family . Thankyou for asking 💕

I am so sorry about that if you need me please let me know ❤️ That’s good that his tics have decreased

Ohh , how lovely of you!! Probs the best we can all do is if we meet someone with Tourette’s to understand that Tourette’s is more than tics ( it’s actually the new motto for the Tourette’s association here in Australia) it can be ,but not always . It can affect people mentally...... intrusive thoughts etc . Unfortunately this association didn’t help us at all, sounds strange but true , still don’t get why , just get given a bunch of numbers for doctors that led to nothing or they were retired ...... or paid $300 for 45 min consult and hand full of high dose pills at age 10 that did nothing except changed my beautiful boy into a zombie,no therapy , nothing!!! Needless to say got him off them .
