Does anyone have coping skills with suicidal thoughts?
Thank you so much. I'm in recovery right now for alcohol (almost 31 years clean) but these thoughts are so powerful. Visions as well. I appreciate your response.
I don't want to die either. My children need me.
Suicide is final... Think of all the people who would be devastated if you did something to yourself. I know first hand how the ones who are left to deal with loosing their loved one feels. Try to remember this. You are loved.
God, this is a great question you bring up!!!! And it doesn't have easy answers. I have bipolar disorder and in the past I've made 2 serious suicide attempts. I'm trying to make a big effort to stay out of psyche wards and not let myself get to that point. Try to find some joy and tranquility in your life. Try to watch something that makes you laugh. With me, music always saves me. I'm talking listening to some positive, uplifting music. Like the song Calling All Angels by Train. I won't give up if you don't give up.❤️
I'm not giving up. Can't afford to.
I’m new on here and your reply to this post could have been mine! Same diagnosis, same experiences, same coping mechanism. Thank you I finally feel I’m not completely alone
Thank you. Check out this great YouTube channel called Polar Warriors. ,🙂
I found the YouTube channel and found it really helpful thank you! I even told my cpn so she can recommend to other patients
Remember that those thoughts are just thoughts! Most of the time our thoughts aren’t true. Let the thought pass and don’t give into it. Whenever that thought comes into your mind replace it with whatever brings you joy or is keeping you here today. So for example the suicidal thought comes into you mind you should say “This is just a thought and it’s not true. I have a lot to live for and my children need me.”
A phrase that’s always helped me is
“Don’t make a permanent decision to a temporary situation/feeling.” It is so incredibly true. We can make a change but it’s up to us to do it!
I hope this helped. Remember you’re definitely not alone in the way you’re feeling. Keep reaching out and let us be your support group 💞
Your response goes hand in hand with your username. Thank you.
It sure does 😁 also you’re welcome! Feel free to reach out to me through pm anytime
I don't know how... Sorry
It’s all good! If you need help with that just let me know!
I do... How do i dm?
Let me try messaging you first and you may get a notification! Also are you on the computer or the app?
Live for someone who needs you. I’ve thought about it many times. But my parents need me, I’m their only child. If I’m gone, it’d be like I crushed their will to live, and they don’t deserve that.
I just had one yesterday. Almost took my life yesterday but decided to call the suicide hotline. I keep busy doing things or try and take a nap or hot shower. Sending love and prayers your way.
Thank you. I am good today. I see a counselor also once a week. What is the name of the app you are on?
I think suicidal thoughts/feelings aren't a genuine desire for death. I think they are more so an exspression of a desire to escape our pain which can sometimes be so overwhelming we feel like death is the only escape (but it never is). Pain is normal and a desire to alleviate it equally so, but death is never the right medicine, and I frankly don't think anyone (myself included) actually want to die. You can find relief for your pain, there is always a way forward even if it doesnt feel like there is.
I try to look at my suicidal thoughts as an alarm going off telling me that I need help. It's saying that I can't ignore my depression and anxiety and I need to tend to it. Sometimes you have to put everything aside and tend to yourself first. Good luck friend! Stay strong.
