How do you guys handle your negative intrusive thoughts?
Lately I’ve been having some they were gone for a few months but they’re back and stronger.
Any recommendations?

I’m pretty sure mine are Triggered by anxiety.
I watch anime or something funny . Or I just sleep
Hi hiba I usually do the same.
I think you’re supposed to just let them be. But it’s so hard and scary
It is I broke down crying in front of my teacher and she hugged me I was having suicidal ideation and I was so scared
Sorry about that hiba. My are alike
I can even eat and just bought a meal
Either my anxiety trigger the thoughts or the other way around.
Are you feeling any better?
I am feeling better thankfully this happened 2 years ago I sometimes do get those thoughts but I ignore them the best that I can and chat with the therapist about them
Hello, sorry that you are feeling that way. How I deal with that I think of what triggered it and once I know then I try to change the way I'm thinking and keep around positive things. I know it is difficult, but it works for me. Best wishes that you will get through it.
I don’t have a good answer, really, because it’s not really something you can control. It’s more like something that happens to you.
Definitely don’t fight them. That makes them more powerful.
Label it. “Hm. That’s an intrusive thought. So annoying.”
Shift your attention to something more worth your time.
Hi Rafiki11,
Yeah that’s usually my approach and it was working for a long time. So I’m labeling this as a panic attack. I just gotta ride it out.
I’m gonna watch some Fútbol(soccer) hopefully that helps me a bit.
That makes sense. Some days are just tough and you just have to ride it out.
It happens to me more often when I’ve had a disagreement or uncomfortable interaction with someone. It lasts three days sometimes for me.
I hope your team wins!
What helps for me and my fearful what-if intrusive thoughts is writing about them. Mine definitely draw power from underlying anxiety. If that’s weak, I can shake the thoughts. If it’s strong, so are they.
I use the pattern i learned in “The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook.” Describe the fearful thing in detail. What would lead up to it? Who else would be involved? What are alternative ways the story line could go?
I used to think this would make the thoughts more permanent, writing them down, so I didn’t want to do it. But it makes them less.
Maybe there’s something useful for you in there.
