I’m new here. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with health anxiety and catastrophizing. I’m constantly checking and obsessing over my heart rate and heart palpitations and always manage to convince myself of the worst. I can no longer tell what’s anxiety related and what’s not. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Hi thereI've had severe anxiety for 20 years ive had health anxiety for almost 14 years and its terrible it really is like you say its catastrophizing we over analyse every situation blood pressure and heart rate all of it looking for that change so we can worry and then when we get reassurance from the drs it takes a few days before we start thinking about something else..it's a viscous cycle over and over again I feel what your going g through...do you know your main trigger mine
was from I lost my mum to cancer so thats what kicked mine off and anything medical whatsoever to do with my health starts me having a meltdown but know this you are not alone in this here if you need anything
Hey I recently had a sort of panic attack which I’ve never had before. It was at night while I was alone and it was scarier than I’d like to admit. Since then I’ve been super stressed every time my heart rate goes up even a little bit in fear that it might happen again. I haven’t had this fear for a long time so I don’t know how it is over time but I just try to distract myself with whatever I can or tell myself that I’m fine even though I’m over anxious about something that logically can’t hurt me badly.
Even if it is false hope that your ok, telling yourself this until you believe it can lower your anxiety which I guess could actually relax your heart rate more.
Hello thereI have suffered palpitations for the last 15 months on a very regular basis. If you heart has been check and you are ok they are very disturbing but will not harm you.The more you worry about the the worse they will be.
I have had as many as 20000 in one day and I am still here.
Check what Dr Sanjay Gupter York cardiologist on UTube has to say about them and also his advice on taking a magnesium supplement.
I have the same issue your having. I suffer from palpitations daily but occasionally they seem to be stronger and last longer. When they are more noticeable, I get anxious and cause them to get worse. I’ve been check out to be healthy and the cause is anxiety. Once something triggers my anxiety my heart is influenced most. I’m constantly monitoring my heart beat and palpitations.
Me too! I become hyper aware of every beat of my heart and the more I check it the more anxious I get. Since I can’t always find a specific reason for my anxiety I jump straight to the conclusion that there’s something wrong with my heart. It’s frustrating and scary and I wish I could figure out how to break the cycle. Have you found anything that helps? I’m glad at least to know I’m not the only one who feels like this!
