ADD & Time

Does anyone here with ADD freak out about time. If going somewhere, I figure out travel time, how long i'll be there, will I have enough time, etc., etc. It drives me crazy and I do it for the smallest shit. It affects me everyday. I don't go places sometimes because of this time anxiety. Does anyone else experience this? How do you get over it?

I don’t exactly freak out about the time but more like of the moments. I am someone who likes to leave in the past. I love to remember how good it felt to be in a certain moment. And I fear the future. So when I’m feeling like an about to have a good time I enjoy it, but when it finishes I am totally destroyed. I cry and feel bad, I lose sleep. I don’t stop the moment from happening but I get sad after I have such a great time. So my advice to you is. Let’s talk about the time you don’t want to happen. If you don’t want to go somewhere talk it out with someone but then try your hardest to let the time pass doing things you like. Let’s talk it out.

Yes! I don’t do much during the days anyways and let’s say I am planning to go out with a friend at 2:30 PM I wake up at 10 or so and get ready way earlier than I need to because I’m worried she will call and be like “oh we can go now” so that’s why I get ready early lol..I hate it. It gives me so much anxiety and I feel rushed even though the time is so far away

It could be combination of anxiety and ADD. I am just bad with time altogether with ADD. I do get overwhelmed if I am not well planned out 😔

Just wondering if having ADHD and consistently being LATE for every single thing counts? 🤷‍♀️

I mean it IS time related lol. 🤣

Because I’m telling y’all, I really AM that one who’s gonna be late for my own funeral! 😬🤦🏻‍♀️

ty-lof issues with the concept of time and chronic lateness in those of us with ADD/ADHD usually stem from our massively decreased executive function capabilities. In layman's terms those of us with focus issues do not respond two or firmly grasp it Time as it relates to things that involve anyone or anything outside of just ourselves. Essentially the issue is that the reasoning four our struggles to be on time stem from the fact that all other humans outside of our specific group are genetically predisposed to respond to the directions of our superiors, making sure to be on time for two reasons one they want the approval of the person that they respect and have been given a directive from and two they fear the consequences of failing to live up to the promise of being on time. Us ADD types or not pre-disposed to have our brains and bodies wired to respond the same way as everyone else, making it our chore to find a way to reset the way that we interact with others and how we go about setting deadlines and times relative to these value system unique to each of us. Laymans terms you'll have to spend time analyzing the topics subjects people places things at Cetera that interest you on a personal level and are the kinds of things where you can spend lots of time and energy committed to absorbing in the topic of the subject. Since we don't respond well to Direction from others or out of fear like all the humans are, we don't have to go about replacing fear and respect with topics are subjects that we are interested in and then apply them to our greater interaction with others. Hopefully that makes sense it is a whole lot a background on this but I can send you a couple of write ups on how this works if it would be beneficial to you.

I’m new here and I’m not sure if I have ADD but I freak out about time because I’m late for everything!! No matter what I do well there’s try to get stuff ready the night before or simplify my routine the next day I managed to be at least 5 to 15 minutes late for appointments 80 to 90% of the time . I also miss place things a lot and it’s gotten worse I’m going to a neurologist tomorrow to see if I can get tested but I have so many of the symptoms I’m 90% convinced I have it.
