New Habits

It’s late, but I just was thinking about positive ways to deal with a down mood. I am really never in the greatest mood, but I need some activities that that can pull my mind from its dark spots. My current habits are self destructive and I hate to fall back to my past ways. Please feel free to let me know what you guys usually do when you get down in the dumps.

I make busy work for myself. Household stuff like wash the car, clean out closet or garage, organize a drawer, whatever project I can find or think of. It helps distract me and I feel good about it when done. Sometimes I don’t feel motivated to do anything so I have to force myself, but once I start, I get caught up in what I am doing.There is only so much you can do like that, so on days when I have nothing I do struggle. I had turned to drinking but am working on removing that bad habit (31 days clean). I am thinking of looking for a good gripping book to get lost in to distract me or try a jigsaw puzzle.

Hi Knoxx. I am fairly new to this also. Being in this group helped me so far although I must say I don’t receive as many replies as I expected but all those replies I have received have been very helpful. It seems to help me also when I read other people’s daily challenges and sometimes provide my thoughts, regardless of how helpful they are to them.
