My grandson is now in a treatment center for anxiety and depression that no professional has been able to help him with thus far...what my family is looking for is a support group for the parents as it is so difficult having him at this boarding place...we can't find even an online support group...it is painfully obvious now that this whole issue is being overlooked..if your on drugs or alcohol there's plenty of help out there but not social anxiety and suicidal tendencies...any suggetions

Finding help for teen
Hi. I'm sorry; that's so hard. Does his treatment center offer any resources for relatives or can they recommend some?
not really I think there are several parent "conference" type things over the course of the program but that's about it. They pretty much want parents to stay out of it, which I understand...I get what they are trying to do...but family knows they helped create the environment that made it easy for him to further withdraw..although with good intentions, but they need support and ideas etc from parents that have been through this so they can have hope and it just isn't out there...I hope this community will help.I've sent my daughter the link
Oh, good! Yes, I hope she finds some support here. Several on here have social anxiety and/or suicidal tendencies. Just as a disclaimer, we are not medical people or therapists. We are a peer support group helping each other navigate our mental health issues. Your daughter and son-in-law are most welcome!
This is a great place for an online support group, the people here are very kind, understanding and supportive I think the parents would find it very helpful, and they are welcome if they want to be here I hope you find what you’re looking for!
I experienced suicidal tendencies and this place helped more than I thought it would! I highly recommend it for your grandson or his parents. It must be overwhelming worrying about them and how they’re doing especially during the pandemic anxiety and suicidal tendencies are even worse!
