I’ve been thinking, and my mind caught hold on the idea of mornings. It is soooooo important to start out your day happily, it’s like creating a path for you to follow the rest of your day. Do you want to be on a path that leads you to happiness or misery? This is definitely not a 100% “do this and you’re guaranteed a good day,” you can’t control what will happen and despite your efforts you may still not feel good... but you can always choose your reaction! Trying is the important thing! Trying gives you a better chance!
It’s pretty normal for me to wake up and start out feeling kinda empty and meh. It’s like no matter what happens the day before, it resets the coming morning (that’s why it’s important to decide EACH DAY to be happy). I thought about my feelings associated with things that go on in a morning, and figured out rather quickly that when I wake up and don’t make any effort to feel good, I don’t feel good, and it goes downhill unless I make an effort to improve my emotional state. If you simply tread water in a river, it’ll take you downstream, and just like movies love to emphasize, there’s a waterfall waiting for you.
Good mornings and good days happen for me when I actually make an effort to make it good. It’s important to do those self care things. When you wake up, believe that it’ll be a good day, do something that makes you happy, do something that makes somebody else happy. Spreading kindness is a great way to feel good, both for the giver and receiver! Make someone smile! Tell a loved one how much they mean to you! The list of good things you can do is limitless!
Starting out the day happily will set the tone for the day, and it’ll be easier to feel good as you go about your day because you created your own ‘emotional river’ that carries you to happiness! Sometimes dams are placed to block our path, but we can overcome even the largest of dams! Keep trying! Do your best!
