Helpful tips for managing anxiety and panic

Here are a few suggestions that work for me in no particular order. They are all natural, cost free and have only positive side effects.

- avoid or greatly reduce stimulants / depressants like sugar and caffiein and alcohol

- excercise. even if it's as simple as walking. Get blood and oxygen to flow and detox your mind

- avoid news and advertising They use fear to generate an emotional reaction

- limit social media. Don't fall into a trap of comparing yourself with others

- practice mindful meditations and relaxation meditations or self hypnosis. Find them free on YouTube videos or podcasts

- declutter and live simply. Consumption and collecting things will not bring happiness.

- volunteer, mentor, contribute and be a part of the solution Get out of the self and help others..

- Don't isolate. Meetup.com is s great site for finding your tribe of others with common interests

- let go of perfection. The important thing is to make an effort

- make a gratitude list. A positive attitude goes a long way Fake it till u make it

- accept things as they are, not how you want them to be. That is the key to ending suffering.

- make a "let go " list . Let go of self loathing, anger, fear, shame, self pity, ego, dread, toxic people etc... Let go of the things that own you....

- make affirmation lists. It is Ok to be who you are.

- Remember to laugh.... watch a comedy movie, listen to stand up comedian, watch the 3 stooges.... . Find something to remind you that it's ok to enjoy life....

Good luck ✌️

Thank you for this list. Some are things I have been trying, and some I will try. We all can benefit from positive thinking even when we dont feel it.

I love the list used to be very outgoing and social. Anxiety/ ocd and life events have made me sad, antisocial. I haven't had a good friend because I've been at caretaker to my fiancé. Now that my life has changed I would like to meet people. I will try meet up. Maybe it will have like-minded people like myself. I've met people in school and at work. Just don't seem to jive with them. Thank you for your post very uplifting.
