I'm new here. My diagnosis is anxiety and depression which have given me left temporal lobe epilepsy. I'm trying to be patient, but I'm anxious to get treatment started and I obsess over when my next doctor's appointment will be. I wish I could find something to do to get my mind off it. I'm retired. My wife works at home. I need a hobby but nothing holds my interest. Can anybody suggest something relaxing and easy to learn?

New diagnosis. Feeling anxious
Finding hobbies can be beneficial, even if you only do something for a little while. I did a paint by numbers recently, it filled up time and I hung it up so it reminds me of doing self care. Sometimes I think my hobby is trying out hobbies and hoping something sticks
Reading. Browse a library and see if something catches your interest. Take up the guitar. Its a vast instrument but most can play something simple before long.
Some things that are meant for kids can be fun for adults to do too. Like building something with a Lego kit. Or putting together a model car.
Some people like those word finding puzzle books others find gardening relaxing. I like meditation it calms me. As far as the diagnosis, don't believe it! I worked in the medical field 30 years and every time a doctor gave a prognosis ie:" You've got 6 months to live" patients believe it
and die. Not b/c it was true! People believe what they are told. Doctors are not God. I remember one very busy businessman was told by a doctor " You've got cancer with maybe a year to live". The man replied," I dont believe that! I have too much work to do". I had heard years later he was alive and well! Many people are misdiagnosed. It's mind over matter. Be careful about what you watch on tv and think about . Fear breeds disease. After many years of depression and an anxiety disorder I was finally able to get off all medications 2 months ago. I just finished reading "Mary Baker Eddy Christian Healer" it was a very informative, eye opening read. I pray you heal.🙏💗
