I have them all over and I actually like it. Nothing to fear besides moving. Right at the very start it will hurt a little but then your skin will go numb and you don't feel much at all. I have one on my leg that was done with one needle, no gun, one poke at a time, still didn't bother me. They don't go super deep or you will bleed the ink back out. You're good, but think it thru, because they don't come off.

Anxiety is the worst part. Just talk to your artist, they are usually pretty understanding and professional. I took a couple klonopin before I got my last one, but I really didn't need to.

I hate needles but I have a lot of ink. I find them to be relaxing and help me deal with issues in my life. I fall asleep through them a lot of times because they make me zen and I meditate. I always ask my artist to set up before I go back so I don't have to see the needles.

Where do you want to get it done? I have a few tattoos and I was nervous at first but it isn’t bad.

I will take your word as I am not sure !!!

Honestly, this is just me. I used to want tattoos but when I really thought about it, I decided that I didn't. I don't judge anyone who has them, but think before you get the ink. If you don't like it, it's not going to be very easy to remove. And I would look at the kind of work the person tattooing you does- do they really know what they're doing and drawing on you? Some food for thought there.

I have two . One on each arm. I would suggest for your first one, to get one either on your right or left arm as I believe ( I could be wrong) that the the arms feel less pain than other places. I feel pain more easily than most because of health issues but I didnt' have any pain with either of mine on the arms. I hope this helps. My granddaughter was afraid too and she followed my advice and got her first on on her arm. Now she has them everywhere!

From what I've been told, a lot of pain. What are you wanting to get? The size, etc?

Small star

That should be a piece of cake then. Mine took about 2 hours each but they are much larger than a star. When you get it, let us know how it went!!! And show us if you can.

I have a tat and had it recolored after it began to fade. After the first few minutes I kind of zen out. It’s good advice to choose the spot carefully. Good luck!

I just got my forth one. My son-in-law is an excellent tattoo artist and has been doing it for 20 years. That said....research your artist and ask to see a portfolio. A good one will listen carefully to what you want and where, make recommendations, and give you a quote before they ever touch you.

The feeling of actually getting it is something each person interprets differently. The closer you are to a bone or tendon or a thin skin area (ie, inside of wrist or your ankle, the more uncomfortable it can be. A muscular area is best. I just got one on my upper bicep and it didn't bother me at all. It's true that it starts out uncomfortable but you numb out. My son-in-law sometimes refers to it as scratching a sunburn when you first start. I actually dozed off when he did the new one.

Depending on how big it is and how detailed, healing takes a week to two weeks. Keep it clean and keep lotion on it to sooth the skin and expedite healing. It will itch too as it's the top layer of dead skin sloughing off. Once it heals, enjoy!
