I am not able to talk to my kids concerning my health and mental wellness. They don't want to hear about it. Which is sad!

Hi Mia, welcome. I find it sad too when our kids don't want to hear about our mental health struggles but I also understand. I found what's most helpful for me is just talking with my own peers, who actually relate more to my struggles than my daughter does. She has her own to contend with. I think it might feel awkward for her. I remember a time when my own stepmom wanted to talk with me about her sex life with my dad. Awkward, to say the least. I love her dearly so I suggested she talk to a close friend rather than her husband's daughter about such things, that it made me uncomfortable. She apologized and said that would probably be better. We both laughed about it but she respected me for it. I, in turn, respect my daughter and try to set appropriate boundaries. Doesn't mean I get it right all the time but I try. I just want to do my best to keep a healthy, realistic perspective. I find this forum very helpful as every one is so supportive and kind. Hope you can find support here as well.
Hi, and welcome!
I had an experience similar to this with my mom with my health. She's in denial about everything I'm going through and it hurts so much.
However, they will eventually realize that what they're doing is wrong. Give it time. Until then, I'm here for you if you need a friend. Stay strong.
