Hi Lindsey14,

I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling constantly numb, I completely understand how that feels. I myself have been feeling numb for about 3/4 years now, granted I've had a lot of real tragedy and grief during that time, but the only emotions I ever really feel are hurt and anger now - makes for great company, not!!

I very reluctantly went on Anti-depressants, have tried I think now 5 different kinds and not one of them have helped.

I wrote a letter to my doctors surgery and explained everything (I find it way easier to write things down, I also have M.E so get brain fog) and they put me in touch with a mental health nurse who is absolutely fantastic! Only had two telephone appointments (due to Covid) but she has a plan of action, she's changing lots of my other meds which I think don't help with the numb or ridiculously emotional feelings that I get.

Anytime you want to talk, feel free to message me, it's such a desolate place being numb and feeling like no-one is there for you.

I hope you get some other replies, that will probably be more helpful than what I've said, I'm new to this so still learning the ropes, but taking that first step to write how you are feeling is so brave, WELL DONE!!

Take care x

Are you on meds? I like to listen to classical music. Mozart rocks!

Just got put on new meds

I'm sorry you're feeling numb. It's an awful feeling to those who've felt it, being described as feeling like a wandering ghost, desolate, disconnected, alone, devoid of everything, lonely...

the good news is it doesn't have to last.

I'll suggest to you what I've seen in research.

1. Hooking up with a Psychiatrist, which I read you are on medication now and have tried others which haven't worked...very tough finding a med that works however don't give up..you'll find it. It took me a couple of tries.. frustrating isn't it?

2. Therapy..finding the source and gaining insight into what's causing the numbness thus making a plan with your Therapist with doable attainable goals.

3. Sleep ..are you sleeping enough where you feel rested. If not talk with your Psychiatrist.

4. Kickboxing is suggested to purge feelings of anger., You may not know they are there because you are feeling numb to your feelings..it will also get you out there exercising.

5. Continue with your support system

I get pretty numb myself at times and just lie on the couch with my head covered most if the morning...zero motivation...devoid of feeling and to be honest sometimes feeling numb is okay with me because I don't want to deal with anything.

You've got courage and a lot of strength. I'm always here for you. ⚓🌻

Hmmm, well music and art are great ways to get in touch with your feelings. Also, volunteering is a great way to know your heart and help others. It is beneficial to both you and the one you help. Also, taking a good multi vitamin is great, especially with quality B vitamins which heal nerves, and Magnesium which calms the spirit. Ginseng is also great to balance out your feelings and get rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop. Walking in nature definitely also puts your in touch with your feelings, too. Hope these help you too!

I think you might be disassociating...I was unaware of how much I did this until I sought counseling 2 months ago. Now I'm dealing with my feelings that I stuffed for decades but as I do, I'm starting to feel more good vibes

Grounding techniques are helpful for me

This is what I do when I'm on a walk

I say I see the clouds and blue sky, the wind is blowing my hair, I hear the birds chirping, my feet are taking big steps, my legs feel strong, the blades of grass are damp, etc

This helps to make me be present in the moment and be aware of my surroundings

Good luck to you in your healing journey❤️
