Can I change my dosage of propranolol after one day of taking them?

Hi everyone,

I began propranolol yesterday the doctor prescribed the 10mg tablets. My instructions said take 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day. So it wasn’t very specific. I started with 2 doses of 2 tablets yesterday spread over 8 hours but felt awful. So today I have done 1 tablet 3 times. Is that ok? And can I continue to just take 3 tablets a day from now on?

Range orders like that should not be acceptable. I'm surprised a pharmacist filled that.

Anyway, your three a day is within the range. Definitely don't take anything higher if it is making you feel unwell.

Give the md a call to double check. It's also good the let him/her know how you felt taking a higher dose.
