For the past 5 to 6 years I thought I had moderate depression.
So I recently met with a psychiatrist and i told her that I thought I had depression and by the end of our conversation she diagnosed me as having an adjustment disorder. Now I’m not quite sure if this is a diagnosis that is set in stone or if I will be needing further assessment to confirm if that’s what I have but she offered cognitive therapy and antidepressants. I’m very interested in therapy since it’s the least invasive. Is there anyone that has been through cognitive therapy and can tell me what to expect? And does anyone have any advice or coping mechanisms when it comes to experiencing stressful situations?

I've done cognitive programme previously, for different issue, but for me it didn't work.As I said for different thing, but it was a lot of talking about the past and how I fe!t,plus planning l for future hours, days etc. How I fe!t about things etc.I've also seen psychic doctors for depression and didn't want antidepressants but had to take them in the end to get myself discharged from their care! Like blackmail I fe!t.
But it DOES help a lot of people. Mine in UK and I found mind and psychologist more use for me, it we're some different. So good lickw, and lots of people here that understand, and I understand how difficult it is. I'm well past the worst now, let's see what happens for you now.good luck and try to do something you like,e.g. Film or music or anything just for you. Small steps is all it takesxxx
