Can the lungs just stop working?

Can they just all of a sudden give out.... without lung conditions like asthma or copd just regular lungs that seem healthy! I’ve laid in bed the past two hours just wondering this. My anxiety is through the roof, my chest is tight and can’t sleep! Google isn’t very direct. I know this is a random question and it’s probably for a doctor to give but it’s stressing me out!
