Good morning! I am really panicking over this, and I would feel calmer if, at least, I had some idea what's going on.
Four days ago, I woke up at 4 a.m. feeling feverish, nauseated, sick all over, and as though my legs were made of rubber. I ran in the bathroom and used the toilet. It made me feel as though I was going to collapse on the floor. I also had my heart going like mad. Since I have panic, I think that's a likely explanation. Probably.
It didn't stop at all for a couple days of hell. Shaky, sick, and confused all day and night. Then, yesterday, I woke up at 7 instead of 4. Not sick. Not panicked. And the problem had passed. What a relief! None of these symptoms all day. Gone, for good -- I thought.
But at 4 a.m. this morning it's back.
I have connected the feverish feeling to the sudden hot, rainy spell where I live. I thought I was overheated, and maybe having my chronic pain issues made worse by the barometer.
Post menopause stuff?
Or a side effect of the Remeron I take? Ever since I began the Remeron, I have noticed I have a bad problem tolerating heat.
My home is very uncomfortable in the Spring and Autumn, when it's too early to put in the air conditioner, and the air is hot and dead. Overnight, I can't rest: too hot, covers off, too cold, covers on... No middle ground.
I'm sure digestive problems are involved in this, but whether they are causing everything or a side effect of something else, I don't know.
I would really appreciate any ideas at all.
Thanks.
Edit: My husband says it is quite hot in the house today, but I'm frozen and can't stop shivering.
Plus I just ran in the bathroom for the third time of -- sorry -- almost diarrhea, plus feeling as though I am going to vomit and my rubbery legs are going to drop me on the floor.
Can a very erratic diet do all this? Can panic? Any ideas???

If you have Anxiety this may be causing your problems. However are you eating just before bed sometimes that can cause problems. If you also go to bed at different times that can cause problems as well. Sometimes a hot shower can affect sleep.
Sometimes if we have been watching a violent movie on the TV that can keep us awake as well .
You mention Pain, pain can keep us awake and depending on the cause. I know I have to manage my pain and that can make all the difference
I do eat my dinner very close to bedtime often, or even skip dinner when there is none. I know it upsets my digestion, but I haven't been able to come up with a work around. (Except Kind protein bars around 5 o'clock when my stomach is starting to act up and I have a blood sugar issue from not eating. That helps a bit.) Any ideas for feeding yourself a nutritious dinner -- not take out or frozen -- when you can't stand will be much appreciated.
Ya, pain does interfere with a good sleep. I hate waking up and knowing it's already bad.
I haven't seen a violent movie in just ages, but I'm one of those weird-os who love a good horror film or thriller. Don't think that would do it. (Except for the time I unwisely watched The (original) Texas Chainsaw Massacre late at night. Didn't get much sleep that night!
My fav dinner when i don't feel like eatting is fresh celery and carrots dipped in a spicy (or other flavored) hummus. Always hits the spot and super easy to prepare.
I got extremely sick from my home itself. Mold sickness. Our new home had mold and it built up in my body until I was constantly in the hospital. A specialist doctor finally found out what it was through lab testing. I'm now taking meds to pull it from my body and we removed the source of the mold. But when the weather changes mold spores act differently. I get very sick on days if the weather changes and it lasts anywhere from 2 to 4 days before I feel fully well again. It is something to consider. You could test the theory out by keeping track of symptoms. Then spend 3 days mostly inside without outside air. See how you feel. Then spend 10 mins s few times a day getting fresh outside air. Mold and other toxic chemicals from home building might not be causing it, but when other things are ruled out, you should consider it. Here is a site that talks about it. survivingmold.com.
Oh my goodness, I think I messaged you in response to a previous post about this!
I forgot (memory shot to hell) all about it!
I have mold problems all over my house.
Unfortunately, removing the source of the mold sounds very pricey, and I ain't got.
Can't imagine how to spend days mostly outside, although that sounds brilliant! I can't stand for more than a couple of minutes without extreme pain, and park benches hurt my back.
I wish I knew what to do with this information (could be you're on to something), but I am dragging my butt just trying to get to a primary doctor.
Still, I appreciate your ideas. I learn so much more here than I ever did from any doctor.
You don't have to spend all your time outdoors. Just ever hour or every other hour go outside for 10mins. Do this throughout the day. As far as being pricey, it doesn't have to be. Depends. Just check out the website I mentioned. You might be surprised at what it can do. Sometimes just getting a good air purifier for by your bed at night is all you need. Mild symptoms can be brain fog, aches and pains , tiring very easily. Weight gain. Craving sugar. To very severe symptoms. Most PCP don't know what damage mold can cause. Well, good luck. No matter how slowly you do things, progress is progress.
Can't do it. Can't stand. Can't walk. No where to sit comfortably enough to tolerate it outside because of back pain. I hate it. I used to walk everywhere, just for the joy of it. No more.
Really? You think an air purifier might help? What can it hurt to try, huh? But what do you mean by "good"? Do you think I would find the particulate size required on your link? Or might you know?
What is "PCP"? Google doesn't tell me. (Well, it does say "Angel Dust", but I don't think that's what you mean.)
Sorry. PCP. Means Primary Care Physician. Just your regular doctor. Yes. Look around on that site. Look at symptoms list and resources for suggestions on a air purifier.
We are generally outside at the moment looking after our garden/orchard. Mold is nasty can make many people ill. I have only been in properties with mold. I understand it is generally down to bad ventilation in new houses. We have always lived in properties built in the 1930s so we seem not to have any problems as the air is less still.
There are liquids that can be applied to the mold from Biulders Merchants.
I can't find Builders Merchants in my search engine. Where is it please? In case still I can't find it, do you know the name of the product you mentioned?
I feel your pain!! I feel like I spent my entire 20’s in the bathroom. I had constant diarrhea and nausea, especially at night. I would always wake up hot, nauseous, sweaty, dizzy, shaky. I was told it was IBS and anxiety. But all of those symptoms gave me MORE anxiety!!
I kind of grew out of it but a few years ago my husband finally suggested that it could be panic attack symptoms. Now when it happens I can remember that and calm down a little more easily, and now it passes SO much faster, I think bc I’m not stressed out/confused and giving into it.
If you have time/the interest check out an app called DARE, it helped me a lot. (There’s also a book)
I started on Remeron a little over a year ago and it helped a lot of my anxiety symptoms as well. I haven’t had any side any side affects other than extreme weight gain. :/
Thank you so much for your feedback. I do not have one of those modern phones. Based on your experience, do you think it would be useful to try DARE on a laptop, or a no-go?
Ya, weight gain was a nightmare for me too, but now I thank goodness the Remeron put on those pounds, or I might be dead now from all the weight I've lost in the last few months.
That’s not good! I really needed the weight gain at the time too. Do you feel the Remeron’s helping at all?
I think it’s worth looking into on your laptop at least, but it’s a lot of audio so it’s definitely more handy on a phone. They explain a lot about anxiety and panic attacks and ways to work through them. There’s also meditations and mantras to listen to.
Thanks for the feedback Callie! I will look into it.
No, I don't think the Remeron is helping with the depression and anxiety anymore, it's been years since it was first prescribed, and it wore out.
But the side effect -- how drying it is -- makes me have fewer miserable runs to the bathroom. I just have remember to drink a huge amount of water, or I am severely dehydrated.
Yuck! I cannot turn off my mind long enough to meditate. For me, it's just minutes of doing nothing, and being irritated!
